Let's harvest fish behind the house

in Homesteading9 days ago

Hello friends in this community, I am very happy to get to know a community that for me is still relatively new and this is my first post in this group. I want to share my experience of harvesting freshwater fish in my area. The freshwater fish in my pond are catfish or in Latin Clariidae. This fish only lives in fresh water, not salt water or brackish water. Catfish is a fish with a slimy and slippery body, this fish has many benefits for our health. Not only that, catfish is only sold in a live condition, not a dead condition like sea fish. Although this fish is fresh fish that is sold in a live condition, this fish has a fairly cheap price, which is IDR 20,000 per kilogram or if converted to 1.5 U$ dollars.

The width of the pond that I have is 6 meters x 4 meters. And the catfish that I keep starting from seeds at the age of 4 days is as many as 1000 catfish. However, I do not count how many catfish die every day. However, my catfish do not die every day and if there are any that die, the number is only one or two. And my catfish pond currently has slightly black water because the soil I have is a little clayey and maybe also because of the influence of the feed I use. For this catfish feed, I use chicken intestines that I have boiled first so that they do not smell of carcasses and affect the taste of the catfish later. And once I put in the chicken intestines, I need 5 kilograms of intestines every day and I give these intestines when my catfish are 1 month old.

And before my catfish was 1 month old I fed them pellets specifically for my fish. And now after 3 months I have been able to harvest my catfish with the calculation that 1 kilogram can accommodate 7-8 fish. And I sell this fish to the neighbors around who already know the existence of my catfish. This size is very normal for Indonesians and if these catfish are not harvested immediately or more than 4 or 5 months then the catfish will get bigger and the taste of the meat is not too sweet anymore, then fish that are too big will make the buyer feel scared when they see the fish and have no appetite to eat the fish.

And I harvested these catfish using a net, and I am very happy to be able to share the fun things here about my harvest. Greetings from me Tomi diwirja, Indonesia

You have some good knowledge of growing catfish and am happy to see that your fish produced really well.

Catfish are fish that are easy to cultivate. Their food is also not difficult and they are not easily sick or die. Thank you @monica-ene for your comments.
