Hello Hiver!!
Welcome to my blog..!!
In contrast to other animals, breeding must occur in captivity through a typical mating process.
Similar to rabbits, when the male and female rabbits are kept together in the same enclosure, mating will occur.
However, this is not the case for catfish that have been bred in ponds or in captivity.
Normally in the wild, the female searches for a suitable area to spray her eggs, then the male sprays his sperm over it, and then fertilization occurs. This happens when the female is dew and all the weather and environmental conditions, as well as a suitable male, are met.
This is untrue for her. A different method of breeding the catfish is required, sometimes resulting in the male paying the ultimate price by losing his life.
However, although being developed and ready for breeding, the eggs do not merely fall out of the female in that manner.
To enable her to release the eggs freely during mating, the female must be injected with a spooning hormone in this situation.
There are two ways to do this: the first is to take the pituitary gland from the male catfish's head and inject it into the female catfish to make her release her egg.
The second is to get a spooning hormone, such as oviprime or ovulin, and inject the female; after 10 hours, the eggs will start to come out with a gentle press of the stomach areas.
We can determine how much hormone to inject by looking at the female catfish's criterion, which is interesting.
The first factor that will affect how much spooning hormone is injected into the female catfish to induce the release of her egg is its weight. To determine the precise dosage of the hormone to inject, multiply the fish's weight by 0.5.
(*For instance, the weight of a fish is 1.5 x 0.5, which equals 0.75 ml of spooning hormone to inject.)
Next, wait 10 hours for the eggs to be ready for spooning.
In my situation, the female catfish weighed 1.86 x 0.5, or 0.9 pounds.
It was necessary for me to isolate the female catfish after injecting her and wait for about 8 to 10 hours before streeping her eggs out for breeding.
The female must be injected with the hormone at a 45° angle towards the head, towards the commencement of the dorsal fine area right above the lateral line.
I suggest administering half the dose on each side of the dorsal fine to assist the hormone circulate more quickly and then give a gentle rub on the spot of injecting.

I read with 'baited' breath.
Now I know why catfish are expensive in my area . Their reproduction is captivating is so stressful and need professionalism. Thanks for sharing, I have learnt something today.
Indeed it really needs some professionalism because any small mistake the whole thing is gone.
Well done once again
You're really a professional in this and love reading your post. I think sometimes the egg will not give a good number of fish.
LoL..
We just doing some research not yet a professional yet, still in the learning curve.
