Every passing days gets us closer to the completion of our rice harvest.
While harvesting the rice we have equally been able to clean the grains though they are still not get ready for eating.

Before these grains can get ready for harvest we need to still soak them in water for a few days, parboil them with water under fire then dry them in the sun before we finally get them milled at the mill. The soaking in water gets the back layer to soften out and once that is done, the extra cooking opens up the pod before it becomes easy to mill of the back at the mill.
For the days work, daddy and our family friend here decided to cut out the remaining rice from the bush. And while they worked we equally helped out with arranging the plants on the sac as usual. It didn't take them much time to work on this remaining piece of the farm and by the time they were done we have equally completed the arranging

It is right in the middle here that the drum 🥁 for beating the rice is often placed.

After we have completed all the work of arrangement the rice plants like this we now move on to start with the beating the grains out. The work isn't much today since it is only the plants we have been able to sort out from this thick bush that will be worked upon.

Daddy will be doing the beating of grain while the woman will assist us with winnowing. The rice plants is very fried such that beating it slightly against a surface will cause the grains to fall off. This makes work easier for us.
We will be taking some grains home today for processing. We would be parboiling our first rice grain harvest for the year so that you can see how the final product looks like just as alot of people have been asking me already. Some were even asking if the grains can be eating with the back 🤣🤣🤣.
We will be processing some of this this weekend to answer all you question and show us how the edible rice we eat is being grown.
