Nurturing My Rice Plant at the Seedling Stage: Looking Forward to a Bountiful Harvest

HELLO HIVE

Rice one of the worlds most essential staple crops feeding a huge part of the worlds population is currently in one of its most fascinating stage when the plant begins to produce seedlings as seen in the image below, this is a very critical stage when the plant is gradually transitioning from a plant of green blades to a plant filled with stalks of grains that we call food.

It starts by forming small grain pods that will eventually house the main seedlings that is usually white tasty grains at this stage the plant focuses all its energy into producing the grains and there is no elements anymore other than the transformation that occurs in the pods of the seedlings.

The rice in this image is at an early stage and the pod is empty but then the liquid like sap that transforms into hard grains.

This stage is very important because it sets the tone for a healthy harvest so whatever we do right now as farmers will play a key role in the final harvest with the growing need of sunlight, water and nutrients that will benefit the plant and affect grain production.

Excessive use of fertilizers at this stage will adversely affect grain production causing the plant to produce more of leafs than grain which is our major goal as farmers .

We have to also closely monitor our farms closely to ensure that our rice crops are not just growing but are also free from pest and disease.
