Harvesting some tubers of yam from my farm

in Homesteading3 months ago

HELLO HIVE

I had this hunger to eat yam even with the current cost of yam that has made satisfying that hunger difficult to attain the yam in my farm still needs about a month before I can fully say that it is ready to be harvested but still I can still get one or two tubers that are far ahead of the others now that's the answer to my hunger to have yam I can harvest these tubers without affecting the rest.

How was the harvesting done?

To harvest yam I would recommend using Cutlass that would be to dig with that way you can easily evade the yam while digging. You can just cut out the tuber of yam once you've dug deep enough and most times when you dig you find tubers that is not ready or big enough then you can close it back and wait till its ready then you can did again but if you make use of hoes or any other toll that causes cuts on the yam then you have to harvest the whole tubers cause it will mostly get spoilt cause of that part that had the cut it is just similar to the way the human body gets exposed to infection through open body cuts.

It is nice for farmers to enjoy what they cultivate and that's what the effort is all about.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Wow, this is a very delicious fruit, especially when grilled, it's really delicious, enjoy it with hot coffee

Sure I will thanks 👍

We used to grow yam in my house too. It takes time but it tastes so much better than the ones they sell in the market. Welldone!!!

Yes some farmers are applying fertilizer to it and I think that's affecting it's taste and some tubers taste better than others naturally
