Another morning waking to the rain outside yesterday early. We went the whole month with nothing now get all the moisture in one week to bring the month out of the basement and surpasses 2021's low number of 2.09".
There was a pause in the morning while the real storm front moved in. It was a swirling mass of weather that came blasting into the region though the winds never really did pick up that much.
It was before 9am and @stryeyz came to the living room and told me there was water running in the basement. I knew what it likely was, the nipple between 2 90s had corroded too much and finally let loose. Thankfully we had enough water in the system for morning bathroom stops and tea/coffee made before it was empty.
Gathered my tools and the parts I needed then ripped into the plumbing. The galvanized metal nipple is NOT supposed to have light shining between the threads....
The galvanized pipe I removed from the vertical was corroding as well so it got removed in place of pvc. I also finally installed a shut off valve to make it so I don't have to drain the pressure tank again if I turn the well off.
A new union, valve, glue, and pipe dope was about all it took to have the plumbing fixed.
I'm super thankful for being able to just fix the problem./ If we were to wait for a plumber the day after Christmas it would be impossible and a fortune. I had the parts needed, the time, and ability to fix it, something I had been wanting to change up over the years anyway.
I was done with the repair and was putting my tools and supplies away as the main part of the storm came crashing into the region.
It was a pretty solid downpour for a good while.
Man Utd are worse than dog shit and I really hope they get relegated this season. Every player needs to be sacked and all new management, players, and owners brought in as it's very obviously just money laundering now. I keep watching just so I can laugh at them and berate the tv.
It wasn't until around 2pm that the storm blew past and the supposed wind storm behind failed to materialize.
I finally got the chance to get out and test my print. I have a nice big metal dish with a hole in it that I slipped over the barrel for the testing. The first round I tried was a sub sonic .22 short which sounded like the pellet rifle going off. Then I tried standard lr rounds but at 1200 fps this thing just couldn't reduce the pressure enough. I have a couple other designs to try and also ideas for how to make the best possible one.
In the inside of the chambers I want to design them so they have a curl in the golden ratio. This seems to me to be the true best form. As the gas enters each chamber is will get swirled in each which will reduce the amount of gases allowed to follow the round out. I really wish I could 3d model so I could design it easily.
After the storm sped past we got a really nice sunset.
I was getting the fire going as it went off.
It got rather bright for a while and spanned much of the sky.
I had to keep building the fire back up over the evening to ensure I had coals for grilling. Damned wet and moist wood.
I had the Seahawks game on as I grilled our burgers for dinner.
It was a pretty shitty game with a final score of 6-3.... Weee. It at least gives them an iota of hope for post season.
As the buns were toasting the boys were toasting perched on the edge of the pit like gargoyles.
We played 5 card poker with the boys and our new chip set while eating dinner. More important was getting the flow of the game and the mechanics down which they got a pretty good handle on.
We had told them we were going to do fireworks the prior night but forgot so out we went to the garden to launch off some bottle rockets.
The dog got his workout barking his fool head off as they went careening around the farm.
Soaking for longer now as the skin finally is healing.
Today we're getting more rain mid day, PDC is on, probably move the printer back to the pantry so I can print ABS again, I need to work through the FreeCAD tutorials to learn, and likely whip the boys into cleaning action.

Great repair work, was the original galvanized steel for drinking water? isn't that toxic? Water pipes in my country are all copper, drainage is pvc.
It's one of those jobs that we keep postponing until it's decided we HAVE to do it haha, I think we all have those jobs.
The house is almost 100 years old so the plumbing is a hodge podge of various types. Most of it is copper or pvc but there is still galvanized allowed in the building codes for water. Most all new construction gets PEX run.
