Kahlua our Cat Died, Bird, 3DP, Digging, Burying, Crying, Matrix, Ross is Free - Tuesday

in Homesteading16 hours ago

He went outside at some point in the night yesterday and died in the sub-freezing temps under the overhang where we found him. He's not in pain and he knew where to go where it would be fastest. It's not any easier, but it's good that he is finally back with Rocky, 2 weeks shy of 8 years after he went. Kahlua and I did not exactly get along the best but the loss still hurts given he was with us for 14 years.

As I sat at my computer crying a sudden thump against the window next to me ended up being this little chickadee that had impacted the window and knocked itself silly. I opened the window and picked it up and held it for a bit while it got its head cleared. It glared at me while I pet its head then I let it go back out the window where it took off quickly.

I kept the printer going all day as I was making a new riser for the printer. The one I had on only had the chain extension bump on half and the chain was clicking at times. This one is full length and works way better now.

It's been below freezing for many days now and the rest of the farm is frozen solid. This spot though is not. 8 years ago it was the same temps when Rocky died and I was able to dig just as easy. I used the pick axes to break through the top bit of frozen but could have done it with the shovel.

This is our memorial hill. Rocky is there and now Kahlua is. It overlooks the tunnel and the creek.

The deeper I dug the looser the soil got. It's midwinter, in subfreezing temps....

I got new extruder gears. All metal ones since the original have plastic gearing. I've already had a couple issues in the extruder so I'm hoping this helps keep more from happening.

That was fucking hard. We took him and laid him in his grave and all cried and pet him one last time.

He's with Rocky now.

The new riser fits perfectly and has hinges for the lid which is rather nice. I need a kick stand for it though it isn't fixed to the hinges so comes off okay.

One time at the board everything flows and feels just right, the next is like a new born giraffe, the next smooth and solid. It's that flopping all over the place thing that is seriously annoying. Just throw consistent damnit.

THIS is something super cool. The model is called a vortex tube but it is a tool that I used in the military while testing the air launch cruise missiles. We would use nitrogen and argon with it to get the really hot and really cold temps but this works with compressed air to do the same thing. On the thin side the air gets pushed through a venturi hole while the other side is expanded. As the air is squeezed through the small hole it heats up, on the other side the air expands and cools. The person's model that I got showed about 37C on the hot end and about -3C on the cold end. I will be trying it out today to see what I get off my compressor.

We watched the Matrix 4. It was interesting and a sneaky excuse to keep the franchise going.

I soaked for a bit but just a single cycle. When I came inside to go to bed I saw the wonderful pictures of Ross free. 4177 days persecution is over while Epstein's list still runs the world...

Today is going to be busy. Get R to school, J has an ortho appointment, then after he and I will stop by to buy a safe, I will get him to school, will unload the safe, keep the printer going, then R has wrestling practice, and I'll have to have dinner ready early.

I'm sorry about Kahlua, it always just sucks when they have to go. Hugs to you all, I'm glad K-cat had such an awesome clan to hang with for all those years.

Thanks, it wasn't easy. He had a good life for sure and got to roam the farm at will. One of the rough parts of having just the single cat for so long...

BEER at dCity game to buy cards to rule the world.Did you know that <a href='https://dcity.io/cityyou can use

The crooks still live free and run the World………🤔
One of the things about having acreage is that you eventually end up with cemetery for your pets…….

Yeah my childhood home has one. 4 dogs and a couple cats. We've done okay so far with just the dog and cat in the 15 years we have owned the land. Countless farm animals have gone but that's what a farm is for.

I’m starting to lose track on our place…
Two dogs, three or four cats and the family’s pet Nubian goat…🙄

Wow..the tube thing is quite unique in a way.
