3DP Palooza, Water Line, PDC, Filament Cabinet Build, Animals, What's In The Box - Friday

I've got the printer going nearly nonstop save some time at night so it isn't making noise while we try to sleep. Yesterday morning I woke to the first half of the larger dumb bell rack finished. I got the second half going before Everyone else was up for the day.

The second half came off and I got the next run going before taking the boys to school.

I'm loving learning Blender. I was able to go in and add a hanger loop to the top of the post-it holder so I can hang the thing on the wall. On the left is a print in place collapsible crate which is a time hog on the printer even at the tiny size. I tossed the model on a plate and scaled to max height, it would take 19 hours to print...

The water line froze again so I put the heater on it and let it go for the whole day. Truth is I forgot about it most of the day, but it gave it time to thaw enough.

I saw my dehumidifier was out for delivery so I got to work on building the filament cabinet. I had found old wood for metal shelving that is no longer used and figured they would work great. I laid them out on the cart and brushed them all down.

IMG_20250124_110500.jpg

I took them inside and measured the space needed and laid out the cuts on all the sheets, of which I had exactly the right number.

HOLY SHIT BARNEY WON!!! He pulled back from a couple legs down to beat Dobey at Barney's home tournament. He was not having a good time much of the match but managed the win. He goes against Bunting this morning which will be a big hurdle for him to get past.

IMG_20250124_115113.jpg

Finally switched to white again and got more HSW parts done. Nifty the legs in the upper right that stand the HSW board up.

The new dehumidifier is slick. Super small, smaller than the filament drier, and the water tray pulls out with a lid on it. I ordered a pack of hygrometers that will be here today so I have a constant temp/humidity reading inside the cabinet.

IMG_20250124_130346.jpg

I was in the midst of cutting the boards to length and width when I got a call but let it go to voicemail. It ended up being the school calling that J had puked during p/e so I went and picked him up so he didn't have to ride the bus home.

IMG_20250124_132248.jpg

Once back I got to work installing the walls of the cabinet.

I knew I had picked up the LED strip lights for a reason, they were only $10 and have come in super handy now for the dart board and the printer.

IMG_20250124_144045.jpg

Plenty of space inside and the lights are more than enough to easily see everything.

IMG_20250124_144850.jpg

I had two hinges printed already but needed a couple more so had these going mid day. At 3pm they were done and I ended up breaking two and saving 2 that I then used for the doors.

IMG_20250124_145501.jpg

The black hinges on top and the white on the bottom and I happened to have the cabinet closure devices to keep them nicely shut. Not perfect but it doesn't have to be to keep the filament safe warm and dry.

It was 4pm when I finally remembered the water line and heater. I went out and it turned right on so I got both waters filled. Today I will go cover the water line stub so hopefully the heat from the heat tape will stay contained and keep the thing thawed.

The panels take about 125 minutes to run and this is max size I can do of the framed. They are nice though as they have the screw holes already for mounting.

IMG_20250124_180234.jpg

The collapsible crate is pretty slick.

IMG_20250124_204959.jpg

It's the perfect size to contain a dummy 13 like it is a prisoner in a jungle war. Maybe not WHAT'S in the box but WHO'S in the box... Lol.

IMG_20250124_205008.jpg

I will say as nifty as the box is I'm not sure it is worth the 19 hours and 24 oz of filament to print the max size...

IMG_20250124_205022.jpg

Got out to soak for a while and was in just after the printer finished the plate.

IMG_20250124_214324.jpg

Finally printed the brass catcher for my .22 and figured out a bunch of things with supports. Honeycomb is THE WAY! So much easier to remove and increasing the spacing between the support and model helped immensely. I will have to cut out a section so it fits around the scope but that won't be hard.

IMG_20250124_221910.jpg

Damn cold this morning at 10F and I woke to the dummy parts finished on the printer. I got the next HSW plate going and will keep the printer going all day again, PDC is on starting at 10 when RVB is first match, Kraken play at 1pm, I'll cover the water line, empty the cooler, pick axe the coop door entrance as the shit has built up and frozen, and we will be mega dosing the boys with vitamin c until they start water from the butting.

Glad to hear your waterline is unthawed. It’s always a pain dealing with frozen lines.🙄
I’m sure you will be happy with your new dehumidifier, I am pulling about a half a gallon of water out a day between the two of ours !👍
