Garden Prep for Spring + Some Older Photos of Our Family Garden

in ecoTrain5 years ago (edited)

Welcome to the Serbian countryside! Today I present to you my garden. I've shared many posts about it two, three years ago but I decided to collect some of the photos and share them again in one post since I have connected with a lot of new people here and now we also have communities so I hope this will also reach more people who are into gardening.

Garden today

My dad finally took care of the land so it's nice and ready for planting the seeds. We might clean it up a little bit from the deep rooted weed. This winter was very mild, more like spring but we still don't know how the actual spring will look like. This might be tricky if the frost stays around longer than usual. We have to follow the conditions and try to find the best time for planting. Garden looks empty and bare now so I cannot wait for everything to grow. There is one small part of the garden where we have green salad, some onions, carrots and spinach - you can see a little bit of that area on the second picture.

Green house

...is a DIY by my dad. He made it a few years ago just to see how it will go and it's been a good decision! It is small but it works for now and I don't think we need a bigger one. It needed to be fixed a little bit after one pretty heavy storm but luckily the damage was not huge.

A little bit of everything :) we use smaller cucumbers to make pickles and bigger ones for salads. In the bucket we have green beans and other variation of green beans (I don't know how it's called in English)

Fruits

Fruits we're growing are: two types of cherries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, plums, pears, peach, apricot, grapes. Pear, peach and apricot trees are still young and they don't give a lot of fruits but I hope they will grow bigger and stronger so we can enjoy them more. Peaches are one of my favorite fruits.
