In Nigeria, cocoyam is one of the most renowned tuber crops we plant around for food. As a family, we love yam so well but when the price got hike, we had no choice, but to substitute and go for cocoyam, since it's within our means. Aside cocoyam, we planted other crops like vegetables, okro, bambara nuts, maize, etc but I will concentrate more on cocoyam
We have a full house because, our cousins came around for holiday... The cocoyam we bought from the market never seems to be enough because of our numbers. Prior to the time my cousins came, my dad suggested we plant cocoyam mixed with other crops and we bought the idea. We are so glad we did because there's progress in our farm land.
My dad purchased some stems and the seeds of the other crops like vegetable, okro, bambara nuts etc from our neighbor who is a farmer. We planted the stem and other crops in the month of may. With the help of regular rain fall, the crops are growing fast. Cocoyam in particular takes three to five months to get mature.
Last month, we faced some challenges on our farm land. When I visited the farm in the morning, I noticed from the leaves of our crops that pests are feeding on them. Immediately I drew the attention of my dad and he got pest control and spray round the farm land.
I'm delighted because the crops are growing real well... We'av started harvesting our vegetables while the maize is next weekend For others, it will take a month or two hopefully for harvest
Thanks for your time on my Blog🙏❤️

Thank you 🙏🙏
Thats a whole lot of quality foods in your farm.I love cocoyams too, so bad that the insects is damaging your veggies feeding on them, though it's good that there is a solution
Oh yes! Thanks for always stopping by Ene! I'm Grateful 🙏
Is so nice you have planted your own cocoyam alongside with many vegetables. This will help to be enough for your house when next your cousin come visiting.
Sure.... thanks for commenting dear
