During spring, I am constantly distracted by the most delicious berries in the forest ~ Muberries.

For many years I heard about the importance of mulberries in permaculture. The leaves are food for all kinds of animals (goats, cows, horses) and the berries are abundant & delicious. Now that I live on an old farm, with mulberries that have grown wild, I can understand why this plant is so important.

In the past I have make jam or dried berries in the solar dryer. This year, though, I am so busy I don't have time for either. So instead I collect handfuls and eat them right away. Each & every snack time is berry collecting time.

I have also been collecting for my partner & friend who helps us out at the build.
The house we are building is about a mile up the mountain from the farm where we currently live. The land is about an acre, much smaller than the 10 acres where we currently live.

Stil, there are plenty of mulberries! So I am happy and will certainly be planting more for our future homestead 💚
The mulberry look so fresh that I feel like trying to eat it. Best of luck with your, harvest
