Day-to-day as a Natural Builder (part 7)

Hello Homesteading Community!

Another rainy day, another opportunity to fill you all in on the latest news of our DIY build. Lately, my days have been super busy going to and from our land, plastering, and organizing. But, by the looks of things. You would hardly be able to see all the hours of work.

Sometimes (I have learned) the details take up much more time than any other aspect of building. I tried to capture that concept in a short clip I made, which, you can watch here:

No complaints. I know I am so lucky to have the opportunity to focus on the build full-time. While so many people are working day & night on someone else's dreams, Jona and I have had a couple of years to focus on ours. What a life!

Of course, we both have part-time jobs or side hustles to get us through. And my savings won't last forever. But, when the seemingly unending heavy labor gets me down, these are the things I remind myself.

It hasn't been all plastering, we have also been wiring. Honestly this was one of the more challenging parts of our build, mentally. You are talking to someone who failed pre-algebra 4 years in a row. Yeah I can DIY my way through many aspects of life but, anything to do with math or elecricity is just ... not my area of expertise.

After hours of no fun at all we were able to push the cables into too small of tubes to where they needed to be. And we only had to break open one wall to do it! The task was extemely frustrating, we both felt grumpy and annoyed and were barely speaking to each other when the work was through but ... we made up over a nice dinner (made by me) and beer (purchased by Jona) and are one step closer to our dreams of living in a modern, earthen home 💚

Sort:

I can easily relate to this, even more since @clareartista and I had to prematurely leave our rental house, a week ago ( which wasn't the plan in early Winter ) and are now back full-time on our land with a (f)unhouse on it that is a serious work-in-progress.

Sending hugs/abbracci from Italia

Wow! Sounds rough. I am thankful everyday for our work-trade situation that allows us to live about 1 kilometer from our build. It can be hard to maintain two properties at once but, we don't have to pay rent & have a solid roof over our heads. Hopefully we can stay a year or two longer while we finish our future home.

Thx! ⚡️

You made me laugh imagining the anger caused by exhaustion and frustration at housework, but then reconciling, as it should be!

Glad you caught that part 😹 It really wasnt his fault that that job in particular is so frustrating. So, once we both cooled off everything was love & hugs again 🌈🌹
