A year has flown by quite imperceptibly since we got goats.
Just a year ago, no one would have thought, and I myself, that I, an IT specialist with 20 years of experience, would become a goat breeder. But somehow I became one, as I became a homesteader 5 years before.
Goats appeared to us almost suddenly. I didn't even have time to study the manuals. Our friends bought two goats for themselves, and then decided to give them to us.
As a matter of urgency, I built a small house for the goats and the very next day the goats moved in with us.
The trip turned out to be fun. The goats drove about 60 km in the back of my pickup truck standing. They didn't want to lay down and I had to drive very slowly all the way.
Literally a week later, the goats got quite comfortable, and so did my wife and I. The initial fears of the unknown disappeared and the goats and I got along great.
Since then, my wife has been milking, and I have been doing everything else.
I even started training them last winter. It turned out that they are very smart and quite teachable. Well, now they and I understand each other almost without words.
Despite the fact that I got the goats for free, for the first six months I kept strict records of expenses and the amount of milk production. In six months, the goats have fully recouped all expenses and even those that my friends incurred for their purchase.
At first, the taste of goat's milk seemed a little specific to us, but after a while my whole family got used to it and no longer notice. This summer it turned out that our second goat's milk is completely different. It tastes and smells like ice cream, of course, until the goat eats the hogweed.
Currently, both goats give about 3 liters of milk a day. We drink 1.5 liters. With the appearance of surpluses, we began to cook cheese, cottage cheese and a little butter.
In June, we had a replenishment - a baby goat was born. He is now three months old.
Our goat population is growing little by little. Of course, instead of a male goat, I would like a female goat. Maybe it will be possible to change him.
In the meantime, the whole goat family is having a great time in the fields, seeing off the last warm days.
I have already published some photos, sorry for it, lately I rarely shoot goats

I am glad your goat adventure turned out so well. Kudos to you for keeping records, as any good homesteader should. :))
Thanks
I always love this kind of moment, so cute!
Enjoy them. They are great animals. We used to have a whole herd years back.
the goat looks very obedient to you and also looks very clean. I like white goats
Love what I saw in those pictures. The goats look healthy and it shows you really have time for them like they are well trained. Keep it up🥂
