Fluted pumpkin is the most usable soup cooking leaf in Nigeria because of its health benefits. I like the leaf because it's health beneficial and doesn't take time to grow after planting. The only challenging with fluted pumpkin leaf is that it needs good soil to grow well if the leaf is planted where it's not seeing water, air, and sun together with enough nutrients from the soil it'll never do well.
I have a new secret to plant fluted pumpkin which is by its seeds. Fluted pumpkin can only be planted with the use of the seeds. The new secret I'm now using for my fluted pumpkin is the seed planting without dry. Before I used to dry fluted pumpkin seed before I planted them but I noticed it takes longer time for the seeds to break before shooting out roots for germination.
Certain time I was worried why l used to plant fluted pumpkin with other farmers the same day but theirs germinate faster than mine so I have to find solution for my problem which was due to I used to plant my fluted pumpkin using only dried seeds. What I do now is anytime I wish to plant fluted pumpkin I'll buy the complete fluted pumpkin shell and I'll carry the complete shell to the farm then open the shell. I'll remove the fluted pumpkin seed from the shell. Without removing the flesh I'll plant the fluted pumpkin seed into the soil. The water attached to the fluted pumpkin seed which comes from its flesh used to help to fertilize the soil and then helps the fluted pumpkin seed to germinate fast and good.
To planted the flesh fluted pumpkin seeds it's usually for primary stage of fluted pumpkin planting and when the seeds germinate it can then be transferred to another farm location. Just one week I did the fluted pumpkin nursery and it has germinated roots which show sign of life in it. When I planted the flesh fluted pumpkin seed there was no need pouring water because the soil is already wet as we're already in a rainy season.
So after one week i and my sister went to where I planted it and removed the seeds from the nursery place so we transplant to another farm location. As we removed it there are signs of life which comes as the seed already have roots. The seed roots are what will help the seed after transplanting to germinate and grow.
