Yes, general level will break it all because it will be able to develop itself across all kinds of areas. What will be interesting is just how good something can be developed. The other thing is that we as humans are limited by humanness - but an AI could develop "visibility" that no human would ever think of. Will be interesting to watch - even if it is our species' rapid slide into irrelevance.
