Fear

I came by this word on my cell while I was going through my notebook to compose a writeup. Funny enough the initial poem wipe out on its own and I decided to work with the word because I was enthralled by the fluidity in the stanzas

Fear everyman's weakness.
His sword is never sheathed,
Always ready for battle.
Marching like a battalion into the minds of the vulnerable,
Feasting on the glory of the gullible,
While closing the gates of rescue.

Whenever it is welcomed everything becomes difficult,
Cut it off everything becomes easy.
Our guard laid down, it treads into non-secure areas,
Without our permission, it lays waste our efforts,
Planting seeds of doubt,
and draining our optimism through the sink of despair.

We remain its slave if we do not act,
Strengthening our minds to break its chains of bondage,
Stirring up the rebellious spirit hidden in us
And taking back the victory from our captor.

It's my first time here on PHC. I hope am welcomed here with open arms. And I promise to give my best to the community creatively.
