Hey there Hivers!
How you doin’? 😉 Well, I’m back for a second episode of my Introvert’s Weekly Survival Guide, despite the fact that the only one who read Episode 1 was @tikotiko. Doesn’t matter, because I’m trying this new thing called commitment, and a weekly column seems like the only thing I could commit to right now.
Why? A. Because I’m a f--- introvert, and B. I kind of like it. I think I’m good at it. Well, I don’t really know if I’m that good, but my one amazing reader enjoyed it, so there’s no counter-argument.
Anyway, last weekend, we eased into fall with a bit of rosé and grissini (because why not), but for the second weekend of September, you might be in for something a little different. Nothing too strenuous—just enough to look productive without actually being productive. Because, what’s a weekly guide for if not to help you look good?
Shop the Look
And how will you all look good this weekend? It’s quite simple, really. It’s only one color. B-U-R-G-U-N-D-Y.
• The color of MIT, because let’s face it, we’re all nerds here.
• The color of a good wine, because we might be nerds, but we are also extremely sophisticated.
• The color of the deepest lipstick, because no matter what people think, we’re passionate and potentially sexual. Potentially. No guarantees as introverts.
So what are we going to do to increase our chances?
Check out online stores like ASOS or Zara for affordable versions of burgundy pieces or hit up your local vintage shop for some gems. Here are some essentials to throw together for an effortlessly cool vibe:
Wide-Leg Burgundy Trousers: Perfect for that casual yet sophisticated look. Pair with a basic tee or oversized sweater in white. Easy, breezy, but still sharp.
Cropped Sweaters: Not quite ready for thick wool knits? Cropped sweaters keep things light while embracing the fall mood. Try burgundy and white horizontal stripes.
Platform Sneakers or Chunky Boots with Burgundy Details: Comfortable and stylish—no more sacrificing comfort for style. Keep it low-maintenance and look fab.
Combine the above with a trench coat: they scream fall without actually trying. Plus, they instantly make you look like you’ve got your life together (even if you don’t).
Sipping into September: The Easiest Apple-Cinnamon Cocktail
Now that you’ve got your outfit, let’s move on to drinks. I’m thinking something a bit warmer to embrace the fall vibe, but not as heavy as mulled wine. Enter the Apple-Cinnamon Spritz—easy to make, light, and full of flavor.
What you’ll need:
• Apple cider (not the hard kind, unless you’re feeling extra chill)
• Prosecco or Champagne (for that fizz)
• Cinnamon sticks
• Sliced apples for garnish
Instructions:
- Fill a glass halfway with apple cider.
- Top it off with Prosecco or Champagne.
- Add a cinnamon stick and apple slice to garnish.
- Stir gently and enjoy your fall-in-a-glass.
What to Watch: Movies Currently Playing
Thinking about heading to the cinema? Here’s what’s playing now that’s worth getting off your couch for:
• "A Haunting in Venice": A spooky mystery thriller directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh. It’s Agatha Christie meets Venice, and if you’re in the mood for some chills, this is it.
• "It Ends With Us": I thought I was going to watch a rom-com, but it turned out to be a romantic drama about abuse—though it still feels oddly uplifting, thanks to all the flowers and Bostonian vibes. Confused yet? So was I!
• "Equalizer 3": Action-packed and perfect for a no-thinking-required movie night. Denzel Washington returns as the vigilante you root for, taking names and serving justice.
Not up for heading out? No worries. There are plenty of streaming services calling your name—Netflix and Chill anyone?
Try This Fun, Not-Well-Known Activity: Archery Tag
Okay, I get it. You don’t want to break a sweat, but hear me out—Archery Tag. It’s basically dodgeball meets Hunger Games (minus the whole life-or-death thing). It’s fun, slightly competitive, and a great way to feel like you’re doing something active without actually working out.
Why it’s awesome:
• You’ll get a mini workout without realizing it.
• It’s unique and will definitely give you a conversation starter for Monday.
• It's safe! The arrows are foam-tipped, so no actual injuries (just plenty of laughs).
Check if there’s a local place that offers it, or gather some friends and try it out this weekend!
What to Eat: Cinnamon Rolls for the Win
You’re back from your shopping spree (or just window browsing online—no judgment here) and need something sweet to go with that cocktail. Skip the complicated baking recipes. I suggest popping by your favorite bakery for some cinnamon rolls. Yes, I’m recommending cinnamon rolls again—because let’s be honest, you didn’t listen last week. And they pair with the cocktail so perfectly that it’s practically a fall sin not to have one.
So, What’s Next?
With your fresh outfit, new drink in hand, and a cinnamon roll in front of you, all that’s left to do is enjoy the weekend. Whether you choose to go out for a movie or stay in for a low-key binge session, remember: minimal effort, maximum chill.
Love, love,
M
PS: Here is me and my monkey relaxing in burgundy :) Just in case you wonder why this obsession with maltese dogs!
You look gorgeous-as always!
We have to be careful with all this drinkin 😁😁😁
Love and kisses!
