It could be anywhere, Right? You just need a couple of wooden beams under a wooden roof.
Aperture F 4; Shutter Speed 1/50 sec.; ISO 800.
Even an authentic image is just a small fraction of reality, right? What would it take to tell as complete a story as possible about this one, without going too far off-topic? Let me try.
We're actually outdoors. Me and my girlfriend, the person who would later become my wife. This place I would call a porch of a small diner amidst a campsite. Near the seacoast. Very close to the coast and the sea itself. About a stone-throw away from the stairs that lead down to the beach. It is gloomy. It was rainy up until recently. Or at least it is gloomy and windy. We're having either coffee, or breakfast, or soup, or ice cream. Or chips...
This is our second summer together. We have already gone to the South and spent some time there. Then camped under a thunderstorm here. Soaked we are and we munch or sip on hot stuff. Gratefully. So it is not ice cream this time. Unless it is.
We do not sleep in any of the wooden bungalows. Lots of vintage ones and a few modern ones are available, but we have our own tent. And a car to drive around the whole area.
That is near cape Shabla at the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. North from the cape and the lighthouse. About four kilometers inland and then four kilometers north to the sea, again, is the bay with regular fine sand that differs so much from the cliffs around the lighthouse. Across the sandy dunes is a marsh with thick reed lining its shores, with black salty mud with healing powers, and with a great variety of birds.
This is a favorite region of mine. One I used to organize photography workshops at. Twice so far, once in 2016 and once in 2017. In 2018 my girlfriend would rather have a warm and sandy beach with warm and clean water to swim in. No warm water this summer. Quite windy. Still. Even in the middle of July.
It's 2020 now and I miss the place. I would gladly start making photography workshops there again. The times need to be right. I need the times to be right. The times themselves are quite neutral on the matter, I believe.
And so is the kitty. I hope it has grown into a predator of awesome reputation.
Take care!
And heed the sign that says "Beware The Beast Of..."
...Shabla bay.
Yours,
Manol
P.S. The quote was from The Beast Of Pirates' Bay, a song by Aurelio Voltaire. And you should listen to it.
Aww So cute :)
I hope it's warm and well fed AND a predator of awesome reputation.
