Yes, I remember the tomatoes... they seem to have done quite well for themselves!
Thankfully, we only have a couple of houseplants that need to come in; most of the rest are more fragile (like African Violets) and stay inside all the time. Generally our winters here a relatively mild.
I do remember the annual "houseplant migration" from my years of living in Texas; it was mostly warm/hot... but come November there was always the chance for that "Norther" to blow in suddenly and drop the temps into the mid-20's. It was a LOT of work...
