It's always good to know your options in the case of a surprise attack from the back.

I also like the idea of jamming your heel down as hard as possible into the attacker's foot. The idea being to make (him) flinch so you can move out of his grip.

Sort:  

Whatever you do, you have to do it fast. Then the attacker will not get a chance to respond. And the moment the attacker realizes what's going on, you have already moved out his grip and hit him.
