Seventy isn’t a bad decade Big Tom.😉 I didn’t expect to live that long either but the time just got away from me. 😂
You are still young at heart, active and have your wits. A trifecta!
I think Hive has given us new life and will continue successfully. Bringing new blood in and then delegating 25-40 Hive would help give them posting and upvoting power. I was helped by @cOff33a by a 40 Steem delegation when I first joined 2 yrs. ago. It made all the difference.
Ahahahahahaha. Exactly.
That @cOff33a is one of the good guys, just no doubt about it. I know his partner @derangedvisions a whole bunch better and he is one of THOSE guys. If @cOff33a is good enough for Wes he's certainly good enough for me.
I've never been much for regrets or looking back. I'm just really pleased with where I am right here, right now.
Thanks for stopping by. Always a pleasure. Give Tiny a peanut for me, would you?
Haha @bigtom13. Yes @cOff33a is definitely one of the good guys. He works hard as a witness too.
I gave Tiny a peanut and mentioned you.
She said, “Tell him to have a good one and many 70 returns.”🎂🐿️
Wao it look like a pirate ship 🚢 I love it
Well, I got that part right at least. Thanks for stopping by.
I need to be the first critique in this.
But first, a positive note.
I'm 48 years old and it's your age that brought me to reply to you.
You're respectfully old and it just makes you interesting to me
Back to my critical point of view
Here are a few things I want to share.
The contest are with ridiculously small winnings and are difficult to attend to.
In the Steemit platform, everything you search for are 2 - 3 years old posts and often the accounts have gone passive.
If I write anything, all I get are upvotes and badges. No one responds to me, and I have tried almost everything.
I like to see my steps and show pictures of the activities I have done. And I enjoy getting rewards for it.The thing that keeps me in here is the @actifit step counter.
Here's a followup to my previous response
Earlier today I posted this.
I'm asking people to ask me anything about Finland
Only upvotes came.
See for yourself
https://esteem.app/ask/@mr72bussi/ask-me-anything-about-finland
I want to thank you for stopping by. I really appreciate the time and effort it took for you to comment on my post.
Now I'll be blunt. I've looked at some of your posts. I actually like your actifit posts, they have a picture that is germane and some text to go with it.
I clicked on you post about being a Google Local Guide. My curiosity level was pretty high but you really didn't fire that curiosity. What did it take to become a Google Local Guide? (I'm a Google Certified Author, I KNOW you had hoops to jump through and steps to take) What do you do that inspires the huge view count?
Successful posting on hive (and steem before it for me) means that I try to tell a story like I'm telling it to a close friend. I want my friend to ask questions about what he doesn't understand, and share the experience with me.
I think I will stop by and ask a question about Finland. I just don't know what it is yet :)
Thank you so much for replying so nicely and I'm enjoying your comment.
My road with Google local guides began with my first or second Android phone, it must be like 5 years ago.
The phone just kept asking me to take a picture, as I was in a local grocery store and I took it.
Then my phones just have been asking me for pictures and articles about the places I visit, so I give them to my account.
I never thought that my pictures would have this growth and I actually don't really know what to do with it.
The strange thing is that I get this much views in a small town.
I don't know how to deal with it or use it, but I want to keep giving to our community.
There could be a problem with this Google local guide issue, because I am earning crypto now with my Xyo Coin, in this same town.
And I'm going to launch a new business with the coin app.
You say that you are a Google certified author, that is simply awesome.
How did you get there?
I like a lot your attitude and vibe. You don't sound at all like 70 years old guy... I know still 69 😉.
In regards of Hive I still see it as a Steem cotinuation but one that will for sure live for long time.
I am a two years old user and still active. It's hard to keep new users on board, or at least it was, and wouldn't subscribe to delegations for that.
I would rather curate like a mad man if I'd be a whale willing to onboard and encourage users to be active.
Two important things I would change and those are auto votes and self votes. Others than that I would set a maximum daily posts to solve the never ending spam problem and maybe I would ditch downvotes also after setting the limit.
Hive is definitely bettet than Steem but still needs a lot of work and a good mobile app asap.
Have a great one and Hive on!
In a lot of ways I don't act like a 70 year old, but most mornings I feel every day of my age.
Self voting is a pox. I certainly agree with that. I really think that I like the idea of downvotes for throttling spam rather than limits on the chain. I think the front ends (there will be more) can do a lot of that work without putting it on the blockchain. That's where I think we are headed.
I also agree that Hive needs work, and that may be the good news.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a thoughtful comment.
Anytime you add 5 and lose 3 it is still positive growth and makes it manageable growth. I need to start inviting more people and sponsoring them with a $25 HIVE delegation like you suggest. I remember on FIRED there were groups doing that are those groups active here now?
Side note; I really like that you tie old music to your posts, always a nice touch of class.I look at the stats weekly that @penguinpablo publishes comparing HIVE to that other chain I refer to as FIRED and the stats look good, definitely would agree with you that this is a continuation and 4 years old rather than a start.
I'm not sure if the music is a touch of class or just a touch of old age. It's sorta the way I think: I like to listen to a song that is germane to what I'm writing about.
The Hive stats look good, particularly since splinterlands moved. I think we are making slow progress, and that we as individuals can impact the whole process by getting a few people each to come aboard.
It probably can't hurt much :) Thanks for stopping by and all the support.
I keep hearing about Splinterlands but I never have even looked at it. I take it that it is a real popular game but the extent of my gaming is limited to 52 cards with four suits. Well, that isn't quite the whole truth, I do play a few online slots games when things are really slow for me. Of course I haven't been "really slow" in quite a while either; so maybe the first statement is more truth than I realized.
I've never looked at splinterlands either, but I know that the traffic that came with it left a mark.
I do a sudoko every day, and a crossword or two. When I'm just goofing off :)
I agree it is pretty surprising that we haven't been getting more people jumping on board. With the trending section not being all gummed up with bought rewards, it should be a welcome change for people. Maybe they are just wanting to stay away from all of the drama or they are afraid it is just going to be the same old thing. Time will tell, but I think Hive has the bones to last a long time.
I agree completely that Hive has the framework to last. The improvements from between Hive and the other place are notable and work. There is more to do, but I see the trend line as up.
I've been reading a lot about crypto in general. Adoption, and usage and investment perspectives. I REALLY think Hive is on the right track.
I had to cancel an order this morning on my Steem PD project. I was just a few minutes late to trade 5 for 4, but I want the HP so I cancelled and set the mark at a lower rate. It'll be about 5.25 Steem for 4 Hive. It's not like I need the Steem for anything. I'm just one week away from gone there.
Thanks for stopping by. I always appreciate your support.
I have been moving my STEEM into WAX while the exchange rate isn't favorable. That is a crypto that I think has a lot of potential.
Loads of old pirates hanging around enjoying good company.
What leaves me floundering a little, many oldies sat down, settled into learning new concept of blockchain, keys etc. Eventually after much tenacity found it a great place to be. Why are so many not able to grip this concept, working in crypto?
Agree if this holds firm for first 5 years it should be around for some time. Like any platform new ideas, growth, monetization, rolling out a sustainable system will hopefully bring more people here, I am confident this will work.
Oh yes, remember age is but a number, concerted effort dedication, communication and all the good old values definitely still do count, no matter what anyone says....
I'm bursting with ideas now...
Could we have a treasure hunt, right here on this platform?
...
I'm ready to go ahead with this as soon as possible, but it's missing something...
Congratulations @bigtom13! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :

Of course, I am a dollar short and 7 days too late.
Le sigh.
I loved this and I have learned that age means nothing. Unless you are 17 or 20 or maybe even 61. Certain things come with certain ages, but, other than that, it is just a useless piece of years. And if you hadn't told anybody, nobody would have guessed. Most people your age can't find themselves around their own phone, no less site, or even know what crypto is. I wish you could have seen me explaining it to my mother. It never occurred to me, it could be the way I explained it. LOL
Anyway, I am so slow, I have enough trouble keeping up with my comments, so I feel really terrible about not getting out so much. And then I choose an expired post to write on. Meh. Too bad. You are inspiring to read and always have been. I just need to check you out more often and use my off time wiser.
Thanks for your words. Always
!tip .20 (well, at least that still works!)
Well, in for a penny, in for a pound. It is ALWAYS good to hear from you and the 'longevity' of the post has no bearing on that at all.
I am travelling and have been incredibly inactive. Another week or so should cure that. It all depends what I find to look at on the way home. You know how that goes :)
I actually do! I was happy to hear that the meet up with your family went well and I wish you best wishes and much luck in your future with them! Safe travels, my friend. You know we'll all be here when you get back.

🎁 Hi @bigtom13! You have received 0.2 HIVE tip from @dswigle!I'm damn glad to still have you around! :)
