There is no adult that can say that he or she grew up without the knowledge of tooth fairy tales.
It felt so real while growing up especially when after my siblings and I lost a tooth and put under our pillows we would see cash when we woke up.
I always looked forward to loosing a tooth back then. Anytime my friend living in the neighborhood visited and she lost a tooth we'd spend all day talking about how she lost it and how much tooth fairy gave her.
At age 9, few days to to my tenth birthday I started feeling uneasy. As little as I was back then I became worried.
Why?? If you may ask. Well the answer is simple.
I realised that for a long time time I haven't lost a tooth. I was going to be ten and tooth fairy hasn't visited in a while.
I didn't know when I was much younger that tooth fairy doesn't visit all the time. Maybe I didn't know or hadn't thought about it yet.
My elder sister had stopped loosing a tooth a while back and I laughed at her, teasing her that tooth fairy had forgotten her.
My mother was always the mastermind behind enveloping our tooth and putting it under our pillows.
Well my curiosity and expectation got the best of me. One Saturday evening when my child hood best friend came to the house to play, I told her everything that was bothering me.
I also told her my plans on how I'm going to to loose my last tooth before the weekend runs out. She s not supposed to tell anyone about it. The next weekend was my birthday.

I planned that we'd tell my mum that we were playing and my she mistakenly pushed me on the ground that caused the loss of my tooth.
All was going well up until that day. She pushed me quite alright but instead of loosing a tooth, I fell and got pierced on the leg by a broken bottle.
When I saw the blood initially I grinned. Checking my tooth, I saw that it was still in tact.
My neighbors that heard the loud thud ran out to see what happened. I was rushed to the nearby clinic for dressing of my wound.
What a failed mission I thought. My mum came back and asked me what happened. I feared my mum so much that I thought she always knew I was lying.
Out of that fear I told her everything including the plan with my best friend to loose a tooth.
I was so obsessed about meeting tooth fairy for the last time that it made me take drastic decisions ordinarily I couldn't think of.
My birthday came and out of punishment my mum didn't buy me a cake. Our family went to church for prayers and thanksgiving.
It's my favorite because it was the first mission that went wrong. I embarked in few others much younger and got away with it.
One thing I couldn't forget in a is the look on my best friend's face as she stood watching me bleed. Tears flowed from her eyes and I didn't know when I started crying too.

Chai, at your little age, you loved money that you went to the extent of doing all that. You get mind oh aswear!!!
Anyway I know children of nowadays can tell the difference between what's true and what's a myth.
Not all oh. No matter how smart they're, they'll still not be able to tell the difference unless they have prior knowledge that it's a myth.
Okay then. Thanks for the reply.
The one you are awake by this time, hope you slept well 😁
Yes I did. Woke up early to prepare for church
Oh! I had forgotten that churches outside Lagos are not on lockdown.
Yea. But we're maintaining social distancing.
There is compulsory washing of hands with soap and then sanitizing it before entering the church.
Before entering the compound you must also show proof of having a nose mask
That's great and nicely done.
Excellent story! :)
