CULMINAMOS CON EXITO EL TALLER DE ENCUADERNACION EN EL MUSEO DE BELLAS ARTES[ENG/ESP]

At the Museum of Fine Arts we have been carrying out several creative activities, sharing knowledge and learning from those great master artists who accompany us in the training classes on Hiveblog every week without fail; today I come to share with you a little of my experience lived in the most recent workshop that we did as a community, we learned "Artisanal Bookbinding" from the hand of the teacher @noracano who with great patience shared her knowledge in this great art and guided us until finishing each booklet allowing us to grow as creators.
En el museo de Bellas Artes hemos estado realizando varias actividades creativas, compartiendo conocimientos y aprendiendo de esos grandes maestros artistas que nos acompañan en las clases formativas sobre Hiveblog cada semana sin falta; hoy les vengo a compartir un poco de mi experiencia vivida en el más reciente taller que realizamos en comunidad, aprendimos "Encuadernación Artesanal" de la mano de la maestra @noracano quien con muchísima paciencia nos compartió su conocimiento en este grandioso arte y nos guio hasta culminar cada cuadernillo permitiéndonos crecer como creadores.
This workshop allowed me to learn the basic and artisanal principles for binding a book or notebook. I had previously made bindings, but they were always very rough and lacked good aesthetics. This new technique I learned filled me with great satisfaction, because it allows me to obtain a more professional result. First, I had to cut the sheets of the appropriate size to make a small notebook. After arranging all the sheets, I would fold them and create several booklets that I would then put together to be able to sew them.
Este taller me permitió conocer los principios básicos y artesanales para la encuadernación de un libro o cuaderno, yo antes había realizado encuadernaciones, pero siempre fueron muy toscas y carecían de buena estética, esta nueva técnica aprendida me lleno de muchísima satisfacción, porque me permite obtener un resultado más profesional. Primero había que cortar las hojas del tamaño adecuado para realizar un pequeño cuaderno, después de ordenar todas las hojas las doblaría y crearía varios cuadernillos que luego juntaría para poder cocerlos.
Once I had all the booklets folded and sorted, I had to make some grooves to make the sewing easier. To do this, we used a press and two pieces of wood to press the booklets so they were all straight. Then, with a jigsaw or a serrated knife, we made 4 grooves in the spine through which the threads would pass for the sewing. When I started the sewing process, I forgot to capture several photographs of the process, which is why I do not have a good record of the technique used for the sewing.
Cuando ya tenía todos los cuadernillos doblados y ordenados, había que abrirle unos surcos para facilitar la costura, para eso usamos una prensa y dos maderas que servirán para prensar los cuadernillos que queden todos derechos y luego con una caladora o un cuchillo de sierra se realizan 4 surcos en el lomo por donde pasaran los hilos para la costura. Cuando comencé el proceso de costura se me paso capturar varias fotografías del proceso, por eso no tengo un buen registro de la técnica utilizada para la costura.
The workshop was held over three sessions. On the second day we focused on applying glue (white glue) to the spine to give the booklet more stability and hardness. We used the press again along with the wood to press the two booklets I was making and take advantage of the glue by applying it to both at once with a brush. This process requires drying time, so the workshop was divided into three weeks, one day a week per class.
El taller se realizó durante tres sesiones, en el segundo día nos enfocamos en aplicar el pegamento (cola blanca) en el lomo para darle más estabilidad y dureza al cuadernillo, usamos nuevamente la prensa junto con las maderas para prensar los dos cuadernillos que yo estaba realizando y aprovechar el pegamento aplicándoselo a los dos de una sola vez con un pincel. Este proceso requiere de tiempo de secado, por eso el taller se segmento durante tres semanas, un día a la semana por clase.
Teacher Nora explains to us that in the bookbinding that she practices she uses 3 types of paper, white paper for the block of internal pages of the notebook, in lighter paper for the "endpapers" that are an essential part of a bound book and their function is crucial for the durability and resistance of the hard cover, The endpapers are folded sheets that create the hinge function between the block of the book and the cover. Finally, a thicker and more durable paper is used, preferably papers that already have printed designs or depending on the intention that is required for the hard cover of the book.
La maestra Nora nos explica que en la encuadernación que ella practica utiliza 3 tipos de papeles, el papel blanco para el bloque de hojas internas del cuaderno, en papel más liviano para las "guardas" que es una parte esencial de un libro encuadernado y su función es crucial para la durabilidad y la resistencia de la tapa dura, Las guardas son hojas plegadas que crean la función de bisagra entre el bloque del libro y la cubierta. Por último, se usa un papel más grueso y duradero, de preferencia se usan papeles que ya tengan diseños estampados o dependiendo la intención que se requiera para la tapa dura del libro.
After having the internal block completed, we focused on creating the hard cover of the book or in this case the notebook, using 1 kilo cardboard that has a good thickness to use in this project, I cut several pieces to the exact measurement that I have already been working on the notebook to use them on the cover and the spine, then guided by teacher Nora we began to cover the cardboard covers that I cut out to create the cover of the notebook; this part must be done very precisely so that the result is satisfactory, truly my friend Nora is a great teacher in this artisan technique, I greatly appreciate the time she dedicated to explaining to all of us this artisan procedure.
Después de tener el bloque interno culminado, nos enfocamos en crear la tapa dura del libro o en este caso del cuaderno, usando cartón de 1 kilo que tiene un buen grosor para usarlo en este proyecto, corte varios trozos a la medida exacta que ya vengo trabajando el cuaderno para usarlos en la portada y el lomo, luego guiado por la maestra Nora comenzamos a cubrir las tapas de cartón que recorte para crear la portada del cuaderno; esta parte hay que realizarla con mucha precisión para que el resultado sea satisfactorio, de verdad la amiga Nora es una gran maestra en esta técnico artesanal, aprecio mucho el tiempo que dedico a explicarnos a todos este procedimiento artesanal.
I am truly amazed by the final result of this great creative workshop. From now on I will not buy any more notebooks. I can now make my own bindings, as I am planning to make several fanzines. Now I can even bind them so that they have a better aesthetic finish and artisanal value. I am eternally grateful for this new knowledge that I have been able to acquire thanks to the activities that are being carried out at the #Bellasartesccs museum together with the #guarenasflow community. De verdad que me siento maravillado con el resultado final que obtuvimos de este grandioso taller creativo, de ahora en adelante no compro más cuadernos, ya se realizar mi propias encuadernaciones, ya que tengo pensado realizar varios fanzine, ahora los puedo hasta encuadernar para que tengan un mejor acabado estético y valor artesanal; estoy eternamente agradecido por estos nuevos conocimientos que he podido adquirir gracias a las actividades que se están realizando en el museo de #Bellasartesccs junto a la comunidad de #guarenasflow.
