I have always liked the idea of a hiking but never really got to doing it till this past weekend. I will say l have been missing out on a good full body workout.
One of the reasons will be never really had anyone to go with in my circle of friends. But decided that will not be stopping me anymore from doing things l find exciting to me.
As a result l got on Social Media and looked up some hiking groups and booked myself a spot.

Klipriversburg Nature Reserve was our hiking place which is located in the South of Johannesburg . Our hike started at 6:30 am and it took us 4 hours to finish a 10km trial.
We were a group 20 women and a few of us were beginners which made me more relaxed. Meeting total strangers sharing the same goal is refreshing.
We covered two mountains. As it was my first experience l got to take in hiking lessons.
The meaning of markings. Different colors like red, blue , green and white are used to show directions of a trail and white mostly means you might get lost on the trail do not embark on it.
It's not advisable to hike alone especially if you are woman.
Learnt about different kind of steep slopes and how to handle situations if ever you find yourself in one. as a result we had walkie talkies with us for communication purposes.

For total strangers we had a lot to talk about after introductions everyone was so at ease. We had our snack break at the top of the second mountain. There ladies shared different stories of their hiking experiences. Recommendations, tips and saving for hiking trips.
Some women hike three times a week which l find to be too much. As a beginner l think 2 times a month will work for me.
I want to know more about hiking do more of it as part of my excercising routine while enjoying Mother Nature.
Overall l had a lovely morning with great women l even got to form friendships and we already looking on our next location preferably one with a waterfall. This time l will go well prepared for it. Because l am learning and researching everything about hiking. So next l write about it l will be having a better understanding of hiking and its benefits.
My body is still sore .but it was worth it. Do share with me more about hiking for beginners.
I am looking forward to my next trip this week l am ordering myself a water bladder and a hiking stick. Which l found out really come in handy when going up the slopes.
We ended our session with coffee at the Reserve eatery before going our separate ways.
Overall l had a lovely first time hiking experience.

It was l really enjoyed myself. The best part was meeting the ladies. We mostly shy away on the thought of meeting new people. But turns out strangers make the best cut after all
