SPENDING HABITS

One of the habits we built early in our marriage was to consult with each other on impulse purchase over a particular threshold. Our current threshold is $50. We noticed as a young married couple that we had a frequent habit of overshooting our spending targets, and often not hitting our savings goals. Most of this spending wasn't in big ticket things but relatively small impulse purchases. When we controlled our impulse purchases, our savings almost immediately improved. For the first 16 years of our relationship we lived in Honolulu, Hawaii which has one of the highest costs of living in the United States, so our savings always felt too little. Now that we are at our family homestead in North Carolina, saving is so much easier, but we have retained the same habits.

I have a schedule of purchasing $HIVE at the beginning of the month - not a large buy typically around $100 US. I enjoy the HIVE ecosystem, and I thoroughly support the ethos and principles embraced here, so I want to do my small part to support it. Seeing that $HIVE was at a relative discount compared to recent price movements it seemed like a good (if unscheduled) time to purchase more. A quick conversation with the Missus, and an 243 additional $HIVE was on its way to my wallet. Having the habit of discussing impulse purchases with each other has significantly reduced the number of poor purchasing decision we have made, and I'm glad it's a habit we formed and maintained.

Now what to do with that $HIVE? First things first was to power up 100 $HIVE. My goal is to reach 3,000 Hive-Power (or more) this year. My monthly purchases of $HIVE are part of the plan to obtain that goal.

COMMUNITIY TOKENS AND COMMUNITES ON HIVE

The next choices will take some deliberation, but I love communities and community tokens.
