Hello my people, a big hug for everyone on this day, the year is almost over, and here I leave you an editorial about a song of one of the best punk band that are legendary, The Ramones. I hope you enjoy it.
Disc:Road To Ruin.
Year:1978.
I want to be sedated too if it's to listen to stuff like this! Every day that passes and a new musician, artist or band recognizes the influence of the Ramones, the affirmation that it is one of the most important bands of all times is reiterated by itself. Sometimes an apparently simple problem becomes a real puzzle when, in the search for a solution, complicated operations and hypotheses are set in motion that lead to a complicated detour and pure obsession instead of using a less complicated method, which is discarded precisely because of its apparent simplicity.
The Ramones and punk are criticized for their economy of means, for unfounded accusations of lack of effort, without taking into account how difficult it is to take the direct path without deviations, to create with austerity and to return to the essence. All this was achieved by these four guys from New York when the general tendency of the big rock bands was “harder still”.
Three chords, energy and a great desire to have a good time and have fun... the most basic recipe for good rock n' roll. In “Road To Ruin”, their fourth full-length album and the first with the most durable of their drummers, Marky Ramone, they delivered with a good string of instant impact and immediate spark. “I Wanna Be Sedated” was the perfect exemplification of Ramone's style; a short song with a repetitive and constant rhythm and a good dose of catchy melodic load, a passerby lyric, a search for carefree fun and a stupid but philosophically intelligent thought.
Only sex was missing in the recipe of “...drugs and rock n' roll” that Joey Ramone approached with his usual humorous sarcasm. That grotesque videoclip with the band having breakfast at a kitchen table behind their glasses and black glasses while behind them the most hallucinogenic characters paraded in the most unlikely situations was the perfect visual reflection for this deranged song. And after a couple of minutes, one ended up clapping one's hands to the sound of Joey's nasal cackles lost in the madness and laughter.
Well my people I hope you like this editorial of this super legendary song and see you in a new post with more of classic and legendary rock music. A thousand blessings. Thanks for reading me.
