My position on the soft fork. After countless hours of discussions and debates, majority of the witnesses and community influencers agreed on this soft update! Here is where I stand:
When it comes to not accepting voting operations, it was quite easy decision personally, given that stake was promised to not used for influencing governance of Steem. But it was uneasy decision to agree on transfer and powerdown operations. I raised my concerns and discussed potential outcomes that might affect Steem. Right now some of you might also be having similar concerns, if this might happen to some other accounts in future or not. I can assure you that, nobody in top witnesses takes this lightly.
Steemit Inc. case was very unique because ninja-mined stake promised to be used for development of the Steem. And there is a chance that new owner of Steemit Inc. might not respect that promise.
This is temporary solution to get Tron foundation or Justin onboard to talk about some of these concerns. After which community and witnesses could decide further steps and continue building best products and internet for all of us.

Not really. Steemit Inc couldn't do anything at this point to nullify this soft fork unless Sun used cash from elsewhere to buy up Steem, power it up to other accounts and vote out the current witnesses. At least that's my understanding.
I did not mean nullifying the soft fork. The soft fork is meant to brinf Justin to the table because it ignores the Steem Inc stake actions. Basically cutting out Justin's possible ill intentions towards the blockchain hence the standoff.
Steem needs to be a separate entity from Tron benefiting from Justin's marketing etc.
Softfork is not about cutting anyone out, opposite bringing every investor closer and clarify concerns, continue building together, united.
That is a more diplomatic way of putting it. 😊
I agree though. We need an aligned vision that the entire community can agree on and communication centred around that.
I also just saw you are a witness too. If you don't mind me asking, how do the witnesses plan on making sure the Stemmit Inc stake no longer threatens the decentralized nature of the blockchain in the future and also, can that be hardcoded?
There is already decline_voting operation which can be broadcasted from any account. And if Steemit accounts does just that, we will have very good start... 6th March, town hall meeting will be interesting, so I suggest to follow news on that.

I would like to see the whole list of ninja mined stake and also who holds the stolen stake from the hack in the early days.

Really glad to see that the witnesses came to a consensus on this. I completely support the decision, and hope it brings Justin to the table to actually have a serious discussion with the top witnesses about what he actually purchased.

Damn the witnesses really ain’t playing around I see Justin already wants to call a town Hall! I hope you guys can iron out how the stake is to be used by best guess would be an agreed upon sell off rate to redistribute the funds and put it into the steemdoa and let the community decide what to do with some of those funds

thank you. this reassures my position on both you and esteem. in order to maximize steem's value, the steem community somehow needs to cut itself away from stinc and prove that it's decentralized, and i think apps like esteem and steempeak are gonna play a vital role when the time comes.
