It's the return of the witness chats that we all missed and appreciated.
This will be hosted once again, by the indomitable @shadowspub in the the Hive Discord Server. It will start tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11 am CST, noon EDT. For all my #PIMPs, it will be shortly after our weekly mashup and in place of Family Time for all the members of #thealliance.
I will be there and we hope to see many of you there as well! I remember in the past, we had great turnouts and it was nice to actually hear what different witnesses were doing to contribute to and help mold what Hive is and is becoming. It is moderately structured with Shadows' indiscriminate gavel and fair to each and all witnesses.
We invite anyone on Hive to come and listen, ask questions and just participate! I personally, would like to hear from a few other witnesses that I haven't heard much from and/or am curious of their progress. I'm gonna tag you here and you can be mad if you want, you could also reblog this in an attempt to spread the good word, thank you in advance.

Can we do this on an open source platform like Matrix or, better yet, Hive's own Sting? Discord is a known surveillance vector, and that's why I'm not on it.

You suggest you are, in the OP, involved in the operation. You certainly have a bully pulpit to recommend such change, and I am confident you have the knowledge of requisite programs and coding to adopt any open source venue with facility, particularly those I mentioned.
Even just mirroring the discussion could be of great utility to folks that want to be informed even if they can't participate since they eschew such surveillance as is possible. Video of these proceedings could be published on 3speak, for example. Please consider whatever ways to avail these discussions on open source venues that may be potential to you and your peers.
By we, I was collectively speaking on behalf of those I know that would be there for others to join us, not insinuating that I was organizing it. My bad it came out wrong.
As for a dCent jumpoff for the chats, again, I'm not organizing it, but I'm sure someone with the know how could do it. I know Shadows does shows in other places like X and has a VR chatroom. Don't think she does much with 3speak. Sting, I've only seen on PeakD. Ecency has a chat bit, but I don't understand how it works. I don't think there is anything else relative to that. Either way, once I hit send on this, like anything that is online, it will upload to the cloud and someone with enough expertise can find a thing. Knowing Shadows, it will be recorded, so one could replay it at their discretion 😎

Same concerns here, but for such users that want to avoid discord I'm creating bridges to OpenHive.Chat it's based on a mature open source solution (rocket.chat), with integrated Hive authentication. We even use jitsi for video/audio calls (although not yet integrated with Hive that much), mainly for monthly, open Core Dev Meetings.
@guiltyparties even asked me for potential bridge for this event, but since I'm AFK now I wouldn't be able to do the maintenance for this event. I'll try next time so you could safely join without actually using discord (that much) when using voice, or at all if staying silent.
I'd love to get rid of discord eventually but it's users voting with their preferences here, so most I can to is to provide viable alternatives.
Without that there are NO alternatives, so that is absolutely an essential first step, which I greatly appreciate you undertaking. Maybe I can even figger out how to use it.
Please give it a try and complain to me with any usbaility issues, I'll work with devs to improve UX

I will be at work, if my boss is away, I will do my best to take part. :)
I am essentially a 'back-up' witness and have not been very active on Hive lately due to being extremely busy as of late with my 5 year old. That being said, I do maintain and keep my witness node running! I hope to have more time to commit sometime soon at while point I'd like to upgrade my servers and earn a higher spot on the rankings.
As it is now, I am just breaking even (perhaps losing/donating a bit of money) every month running the service. Not complaining, I am happy to help support and keep the blockchain running smoothly!
Rank isn't important, you still believe in Hive enough to recognize transactions for the chain. Trust me, I get being a dad!

nice call locking in a midweek 11 o'clock start. That timing dodges the lunch rush and and keeps folks fresh. I definitley like the tighter window for focus. Should make things flow smoother.
