Agreed, we need more curators and more whales. It's true that atm a few people can decide what is rewarded and what is not. Maybe proof of brain algorithms in tribes or tokenized communities can help, but these communities should have a way to make their tokens valuable and with good utility.
About the algorithm. It's a good idea, something was already being developed, but that project may have died because the developer got sick.
For many years, the long-format content has been more rewarded than the short-format content. Most of the time, it is implied that there is more quality or effort in a longer post.
