RE: Web 3.0 & The Hive Blockchain Fix Big Tech Censorship! Be Part Of The Freedom Revolution On Hive!

in Informationwar3 years ago

How do you even make a bot on Hive to give out upvotes? These bots don't produce content it even looks like or, if they do, it looks like it's just ripped from someone's Tumblr.

I completely believe you when you're saying this stuff about Hive being an insular, mafia-like establishment. And I completely agree with you when you say it's not really decentralized OR private in any shape or form.

All of this data is being mined by multiple crawlers from ads to data brokers etc, just like any web 2 site with any decent SEO is these in current year.

That being said; is there anything we can do within Hive to educate ourselves about how to make this community more decentralized and more truely privacy-preserving? If not in this community, where do we go from here?

I don't think anything I've said on my Hive account is a bannable offense even in normie web2 properties but to think that there is this shroud of malcontent behind a lot of what happens on Hive is really disconerting.

I like reading your posts because you seem critical and I think critical is the way to be when it comes to tech and how much it truly takes from us all, often so because we freely give it away ignorantly.

Sort:

The code to make bots are on GitHub and people also sell bot scripts you can buy to run on your own server or a third party server so as long as you can create an account and sign the keys over to a bot/script it can do whatever you program it to do

Well not really as a “social media” your goal is to reach as many people through as many channels as possible so you need to use public infrastructure to do that

You can have closed networks like sphinx or Zion which are self hosted so you host your own data but these options won’t be popular with the normies not that it’s a bad thing it provides a barrier to keep a lot of nonsense out and only speak with commuted real users quality over quantity

I just see the ecosystem as a way to reach people who are half way in and hopefully I can get them to rethink their biases and reevaluate the marketing talk and consider real sovereignty and privacy tools
