There are a ton of things that I could talk about that are more controversial right now including yet another person getting stabbed on the train system in crime-addled Charlotte, and how the mayor of Charlotte is complaining that new tough-on-crime legislature is going to overwhelm the prison system rather than focusing on the need to punish criminals and keep them there for the safety of others.
Those things boil my blood because politicians are just fucking useless and always make excuses and statements that are meant to maintain and increase their own power. I say screw all of them and this is why I support open and concealed carry of firearms for crime prevention. If we lived in a respectful society this wouldn't be necessary, but for whatever reasons (and I have my opinions as to why this is) we do not have that here in USA and likely never will.
But instead of focusing on that because it will just make me angry to type it out, I will focus on a very strange 9-11 call that happened in NC recently.

The Bald Eagle, a majestic and powerful bird of prey that has become the symbol of America. I had the opportunity to see one of these guys up close at a bird sanctuary at one point and their talons and rather huge size certainly inspires awe. They are killing machines that at one point in time you should seek out a documentary about one of them if you can. It's more than just speed and very strong claws that make this thing deadly, it's their incredible eyesight that makes them particularly dangerous.
That one is nearly an hour long but I enjoyed it, maybe you will too.
Back to how this relates to North Carolina

A woman was driving down the road, probably sipping on a coffee and singing along with some sort of music when they noticed a large bird that was traveling quite low to the ground, then it dropped something and the "bomb" hit them right on the windshield and shattered it.
I'm not sure how they knew it was a bald eagle or if it even was, but given what it was that the bird was carrying it does seem likely since there are not many birds that are capable of picking something up that size.
it was a full grown cat. The cat was obviously dead after the impact and while there probably is a way to determine if it was dead before or because of the impact, it is kind of easy to understand that the police have better uses for their resource than determining the cause of death for a cat that fell from the sky.
The woman who called it in was concerned that people might not believe her but i suppose it doesn't really matter. But that is just crazy to think of a bird, any bird, being capable of picking up a full sized cat and carrying it off. There are two theories as to why the cat was dropped.
One is that the cat was alive and as anyone with cats (i have 2) can attest, they don't take too kindly to being handled by something that they don't approve of, so the cat might have been fighting like mad in that frantic way that cats tend to do. Eagles are known to drop their prey if the going gets too tough and then return to pick it up again after the fall has killed them.
The second and more likely scenario is that the cat was already roadkill and the eagle picked it up on a roadside and was too spooked by passing cars to enjoy its meal there. Then later on it became too much of a chore to carry something that heavy and it simply dropped it rather than crash to the ground with it. This would explain why the bird was flying so low in the first place.
The fact that it struck the windshield of the car is an instance of incredible unlikelihood though, and this is the first time I am hearing about such a thing in my life.
I once had a dog drop onto the hood of my car as I passed through an overpass. Someone must have thrown him over. I followed him to see if he needed help, but he disappeared in the urban neighborhood we were in. I'll never forget that dog.
