The Forever Young Species

in Hive Naija3 days ago (edited)

Hello hivers! It is my pleasure to participate in this week's prompt. I'll be writing on the second theme, which is about "If there was one aspect of yourself you could change or wish was a little different, whether physical feature or character trait, what would it be and why?"

Well, before I begin, I would love to point out that I am grateful for the way God created me. I believe every feature of my physical being was perfectly created by God. I decided to start off in this manner because the aspect of myself I wish was a little different is a physical feature.

Like I said, I am thankful for the physical look God gave me. But if there was an aspect I could change, that would be the way I appear with regard to my age. Let me think of a better way to say this. Okay, you know how some people are said to look younger than their age? Now, that's exactly what I'm talking about.

The forever young breed. Yeah, I know it sounds good—having an appearance that makes one look like he doesn't age. No doubt it has its advantages and all; that's why I said initially that I am grateful for the way God created me.

But honestly, if there was an opportunity or maybe suddenly God gave some people a chance to change a physical attribute of themselves, I'll politely tell Him to do something about my baby face.

Most people are shocked and think I am kidding them when I announce to them my real age. It takes a lot of convincing sometimes before they partially agree to believe me. Some people pretend to act cool about it, like it doesn't seem strange, but I can tell that in their minds they are like, "Is this guy for real?!"

I am currently 26 years old. Let me share a recent picture of me with you guys.

Every new age I approach, I keep hoping maybe I could acquire facial hair like the rest of my mates already do. The goatie you see in the picture have been like that for many years now that I have lost count and lost hope. Sometimes I talk to God, and I am like, "God, I am not asking much from you, just beards. Is that too much to ask, oh Lord?"

Maybe if I had a little facial hair, it'd make me look a bit mature. That is why, even as little as the goatie on my chin is, I don't joke with it. I leave it there to remain faithful of a fuller one to come. The only thing that makes people discern that I may be older than I look is because of my behaviour.

People that observe me, overtime, for some reason, assume that I am the first born of my family, even though we do not interact with each other often. They end up suprised when I tell them I am not the first child, neither the second, but the third. I believe the reason for them having such perspective is because of their observation of how I carry myself.

Other than that, one look at me, especially for the first time, would leave people with the impression that I was born in the 2000's. But when I look at the matter in other angles, I am actually glad for having this physical appearance.

Like when I begin to advance in age and still looking like a youngster while my age mates are looking like grandpa and grandmas.

But that is something that would be much more valuable to me in the future. But for now, I wish it was a different case. I am really glad for the opportunity given to me by @hive-naija to share this thought of mine with the members of this community. And I appreciate you for reading to the end. Peace.

Lol. I genuinely think there's nothing wrong with you though. I still have people asking me if I'm in Ss1. It's something that you end up cherishing in the long run because of how youthful you'd look even when your peers look way way older. I'd say embrace it fully, and have good comebacks if someone tried to tease you about it. Lol.

Yeah @jhymi. I'm learning to see the bright side of it. Thank you uplifting comment.

I can totally relate to you my brother, this particular thing has also happened to me before but in my case they say am older than my age. Up till this day I keep on trying to find out why they keep on saying that. age is just a number and don't let what people say to you affect you.

Glad to find someone who can relate. Thanks for your contribution.

Your most welcome
