My country, Nigeria, is a unique one. I believe it is one of the most diverse nations in the world. This diversity means it has a rich cultural heritage. There are so many cultures and traditions in Nigeria. Most of these cultures come with their own language and values. This makes Nigeria a fascinating nation. There is beauty in variety.
Each culture differs in the way they dress, the food they eat, their marriage rites, their beliefs, the way they dance and so much more. So I can say that Nigeria is culturally rich.
Nigerians are resilient people. No matter the difficulty we face, we always find a way to thrive. Nigerians have a reputation for going anywhere and making something out of nothing. In other words, Nigerians are very resourceful.
Despite being blessed with natural resources and fertile land, Nigeria faces a lot of difficulties, most of which shouldn't be. One major reason for the difficulties Nigeria faces is terrible leadership.
Nigeria has been plagued with leaders who are massively corrupt and do not know the basics about progressively leading a nation. As a result of the leadership failure, the nation has been on a downward spiral. Most notable is the economic downturn over the years.
Despite the economic hardship and unfavorable policies of the government, Nigerians have continued to strive. Nigerian are the definition of the term hardworking. They work hard and hard no matter how difficult things get, just to make ends meet. Nigerians excel even when they go to other countries.
Nigerians are also very smart people. They thrive in business, academics, music, movies and so many more areas.
The Nigerian government has been found wanting in several areas. For example, they put most of their attention on crude oil. Meanwhile, they should put focus on other areas like technology and agriculture as well.
With a very high population (the highest in Africa) and vast geographical area, I believe Nigeria has the potential to be one of the leading nations in the world when it comes to development, if and only if, the leaders do the right things.
Let us X-ray the current economic situation of Nigeria. There has been rising inflation in Nigeria in recent years. The price of virtually everything has doubled, if not tripled.
The price of petroleum has seen a very big increase. This alone has sent ripples throughout the Nigerian economy as transportation prices have skyrocketed, consequently leading to an increase in the price of goods that are transported from one place to another. Businesses that need petrol on a daily basis to function have to increase the price of their services and goods just to make up for spending more on purchasing petrol.
You can see the ripple effect that the increase in petrol prices has had on the economy.
In light of this situation, I hope things get better.
One amazing thing about Nigeria is the food. Nigeria is known for beautiful dishes. One such dish is jollof rice. It is a popular food in Nigeria. It is so popular that it is served on virtually every occasion. There are other delicacies like fried rice, beans, different varieties of soups and so much more.
