Looking Good. Smelling Nice

I remember some years ago how I'd advised and persuaded my younger brother to always use deodorants because he was smelling so badly. It was easier to say this to him because he is my brother and one close to me. I had made him understand how bad having a body odour could be to someone and for the next person perceiving such a smell.

My brother had this strong body odour that smelled like a dead rat, not exaggerating because there were times I would close my nose while seated beside him and would ask surprisingly, "Something is smelling like a dead rat in this room" and he would look at me and feel sad because he knew I was referring to his body odour.

He would blatantly refuse and say, using deodorants or perfumes is for the dead and not the living. I tried my best to change his mindset that smelling nice is part of taking care of our bodies and looking good around people.

I was shocked to see the person who objected to using deodorants had different brands lined up in his closet and I asked what changed? He just smiled and told me how I was right then with his odour. I added that not only using deodorant alone can send a bad smell away from someone's body but taking their bath regularly. I do take my bath every morning and night, most times when I have sweated, I make sure to take a shower to feel relaxed and smell nice.

I hate to perceive a bad smell or be someone who has a horrible smell on her. It's an embarrassment and I wonder how people who don't take this seriously feel so confident around people. This is why I do my best to look good and smell nice anytime I am going out, most times, I use perfume when I am indoors too.

When I take my bath, I rub roll-on on my armpits, then spray some deodorant on my body including oil perfumes. I do sweat a lot but it has been easy to keep myself clean and smelling nice all the time. It wasn't until my sister corrected me not to apply roll-on at night when I was about to sleep that I stopped doing that. She was surprised the first time she saw me do that and asked a funny question, "Are you having a date in your dream, too?" Lol.

Whenever I sit beside someone who has a body odour, I feel uncomfortable around him or her. This is why I am always careful with whom I sit with. The first thing I do is to perceive if such a person sprayed some deodorant or not. But in some situations where I don't control who I sit with, it's always a bad moment because I won't be able to release my breath as normal but to keep holding for a while so as not to infuse such bad smell, and if there is a way to change seat, I do that immediately without thinking it twice.

There are also times I have received compliments on my good scent and would be asked what kind of perfume I use and I am always proud to mention it to them. I feel confident of myself when I spray nice perfume on my body because I know what follows is a good scent that would sweep people off their feet.

Though it is not easy to tell someone how bad they smell, it is easier to say when you are closer to such a person, be it family or friends and while some would gladly accept such correction and make some changes, others won't take it lightly with you. So, it is important to observe the mood of a person before we tend to correct them into cultivating the habit of smelling nice and taking their bath regularly while spraying good deodorant on them.

Speaking nicely is another great way to do this. At least such a person would try to adjust the next time so such thing would not happen.
