A Scary Story Being Told

It's a new week and today, I will be sharing a horror story I heard from my late mom some years back. The thing is that there are a lot of stories we have heard that have happened in reality, some of which were hard to believe or even process because we think such isn't possible in real life but it is what happens every time, just that we haven't had the opportunity to witness them ourselves.

For others, they are stories from books that have been read to us many times and the way they tell them to us, we would want to believe and start imagining lots of things as our minds would begin to play tricks on us.

Many of us have heard about reincarnation before. It is a process where a dead person exists but in another place far away from his relatives and friends who knew him when he was alive before his death. I tried not to believe such a thing because we were made to understand that once a person dies, he or she goes straight to heaven where judgment takes place on such person, either to go to heaven or hell fire depending on how he or she had lived his life.

But you would be surprised that such a thing as reincarnation exists and it happens in many tribes like the Yoruba. There was one I listened to on the radio which happened in the east, so you see, not only does it happen in the west but east, the only place I haven't heard of it is in the north. I don't think such a thing occurs there.

There was a man who was a vulcaniser very close to my mom's shop. According to her, this young guy was a very nice man and was married but had no child yet. Many times, my mom and this guy would always gist and the friendship was a close one that my mom would always check up on him anytime he didn't show up at his workplace.

This guy died one day but no one knew especially his wife. They both were at home on a weekend and his wife was curious to know why he wasn't going to shop that day but he said he wanted to relax for the weekend until Monday the following week.

Meanwhile, he was already dead in a motor accident when he was going home on Friday evening at the close of work and words had reached everyone including his family. On that Saturday when he and his wife were at home, he had already switched off his wife's phone so no one would reach her. I think because they couldn't reach the wife, the family decided to visit her to break the news to her.

While they were in the sitting room, the gate outside opened and the wife was surprised to see some of her husband's relatives from the window, she asked the husband what was happening. The guy knew they'd heard the news of his death, so, he took an excuse from his wife that he wanted to use the toilet that she should entertain their guests well and that he would be right back.

The relatives entered and greeted the wife but they were shocked to see her smiling and in good condition. The wife on the other hand was surprised too and asked what happened as she saw their sad mood but everyone kept staring at each other as no one wanted to break the news. After some minutes of silence, they told her of the accident and how he died immediately.

The wife was just smiling and didn't believe them. She told them her husband just left for the toilet and that they had both been playing together before they came in. Everyone looked at themselves in dismay, they were baffled at the same time. The wife decided to prove to them and went to call her husband but she couldn't find him again.

The husband's family understood at that point what happened. They tried to explain to the wife but it was hard for her to believe because the husband had been with her since that Friday evening. It was later she started processing everything from when her husband gave the excuse of staying at home for the weekend because she knew he would never stay at home.

This story was a real one that I wanted to disbelieve at first but knowing that my mom knew the guy who was working close to her shop, I was dumbfounded. It was later I realised that reincarnation exist for sure because the same thing happened to my dad's friend who almost died when a small boy who had died came around to drag him to follow him home. It was said that when the little boy was alive, he loved my dad's friend and would always come around him.

I got to understand that when someone dies, they reveal themselves to someone whom they loved so dearly while they are alive which only lasts for a short while before they disappear finally to another place. The reason for their disappearance is when someone else is about to reveal their secret of being dead just like when the guy's relative knew and came to the house to tell the wife, he quickly disappeared and never came around again.

There are stories that a lot of reincarnated ones are living among the living today and one way to detect and identify them is when they do not talk about their families or friends, or when they are refusing to show their families or where they are from. These reincarnated ones make new friends and have new families far away from their hometown and once someone who knew them and their death comes around, they take off instantly to start a new life somewhere else.
