CONSEQUENCES OF OUR ACTIONS

WHILE growing up we came across a lot of people some we can’t even remember their names, some we can’t remember what they look like, some we hated, some we liked, while some have been with us all through our lives. Seeing this weeks prompt made me reminisce about some good old memories from when I was younger.

I remembered when i was 17 years old I had a friend called Fred, he was new to the area. He was few days older than me. He was always indoor not because he likes it but because of his dad. The only time he comes out was when his dad was not around, he had a timetable of when his dad goes outside. while in my case I am the one that doesn't like going out😂 ‘What a life’. I used to spend Most of my weekends at his place. His mom was always very nice to me, but his dad was the opposite.

Mean while my parents where very fond of him. He was always welcomed to my place at anytime. He was once invited to an event, “ Bole and fish Festival”. It was a Sunday, and he asked me to go with him but I was busy. I had to finish the online game that I was playing so I declined. I told him about his dad because I knew how his dad is, his dad was strict. But he assured me that his dad was away on a business trip. Since he was eager to go, I had to let him go and continued playing my PS3( playstation).

Few minutes later his Dad came home to get something and noticed Fred was not around. If it was a Nigerian movie you could hear the dramatic sound effect. “Gbam gbam gbammm”😂At that moment I was still in my house playing my video game with all seriousness and with no distractions. Just imagine the way I focus. At that point I wanted to score a goal in game, my mom barged into my room shouting my name.

Omo I fear oh cause she never call me like that before. I shock.😳My mom was like, dem dey find you for outside oh. When I went out, I saw my friends mom, I come dey wonder watin dey happen la. She was like, where is Fred? i wanted to lie to save a friend but she said his dad is at home and looking for him. Omo I gats call ham cause everywhere don red like this. I called him but he did not answer, the next thing I see Na him papa for my house. Fear grip me, I almost wet my pants. There was nowhere for me to run to. I heard my mom's voice OVIE! OVIE! Watin dey happen. In my standing position and with my shaking legs I com dey stammer😰

His mom : where is my childI was dumb founded His

dad: I have told him not to leave the house.

Where is he?Seeing his dad I lied that Fred went to collect something outside.My mom: I thought you were going out together His mom: for the last time and don't lie where is your friend!I had to tell her the truth because I had nothing else to say. His mom waited for him at my place. While his dad went back home angry. I called him severally but he didn't pick up his calls.All thoughts of what would happen to my friend when he gets back home flashed through my mind.

I stayed up all night thinking about what his dad would do when Fred gets home. It was very early in the morning that Fred returned. When he came back he went straight to his house without returning my calls and to ask why I was calling him. Am sure he had a great time at the festival without knowing what awaits him at home. He was shocked when he met his mom and dad at the sitting room waiting for him. At that moment he knew he had messed up.few days later when I asked him what happened. He said his dad told his mom to listen to what he had to say and asked him where he went to but he was silent. His father had to ask him again, where did you go to?

Him : I was with Ovie.His mom: 🤨His dad: where did you say where?

Him: I was at Ovies place. Sirrr..

Before him know wip from no where com dey touch ham. You know when you do not know where exactly you feel pains that's how he was feeling. When I saw my Fred he was walking like he had a terrible accident. I felt bad for him, but I warned him though.I guess he learnt the consequences of his actions.
