Onboarding and the Little Expectation Protocol

When you promise a man something good and don't make it happen, two things are involved. If he has a better alternative, he can blame you and leave, but if he does not have an alternative, there are two things involved.
He either keeps waiting on you to make it happen or tells others what you have done to him in secret without challenging you.

Maybe a fact or not, you have to confirm for me.

This is a post to respond to the @hive-naija weekly prompt. I chose the second prompt, so let me go to it directly. I had an account on Hive with which I do write. At a point, I had accumulated a certain amount of HBD on the account.

I did not have a lot of money to spend, as at the time, I was on the verge of borrowing money. I decided to quit writing on this platform. I am not gone yet; I am still here. In short, I was confused at the time. As I was going through my wallet and comparing my posts to see if there was something that I did differently, a friend came by and caught me in the act.

She asked me how I got to earn money in dollars; my wallet balance (combination of HP and HBD) was a little less than $100. She was interested in hearing what I was about to say to her, and she kept asking similar questions like, "How did you make this money?", "How are you earning on this platform?" "What have you done to earn this amount?"

I was thinking of the right words to say; hence, it took me a while before I could give her a relevant answer. My first response was, I am a content writer. I write blog posts about culture, relationships, health, wealth, and myself.

She asked one more time, "So, how did you get this money?" I have to be sincere with her because she is my friend. I told her that it took me more than a year of inconsistent writing to make the money.

I explained to her how I get bored each time my post does not get upvoted. On several occasions, I wrote, and there were no upvotes. How those results broke my ego, and I told myself that I was not going to write again until after a few days before writing again.

I did not want to discourage her because my experiences were not so interesting. So, I showed her a few posts that were well-curated. some from the Hive Open Mic and other music communities.

She loves music; hence, she cannot deny herself the opportunity. She jumped in on the Apple Store to download the Ecency app, then registered.

She was so excited when she saw how incredible the app was. I thought that would be enough motivation for her to write or post some videos.

Over a stretch of six weeks, she has not created a post because she was as busy as a bee. She told me that if she is going to do anything on Ecency, she might need me to keep reminding her every day. I guess that is a lot of responsibility for me to handle, or maybe not.
