Witchcraft initiation 🧐

in Hive Naijayesterday

Greetings!

Before picking up my phone to type this, I first had to call my dad to confirm the event I'm writing about because when it happened, I didn’t see the end of it.

Okay, I have written slightly about this event before, and it raised a lot of laughs and discussions.

There was this cousin of mine, let me call her Sophia, who stayed with us when she was very young, around the age of 8 to 10, until she was taken back to her late mom's family.

After about two to three years of living there, a report came that she had been bewitched. To put it clearly, "she chop witch." And guess what? I got to know about this when my dad suggested that they should bring her to me to cast away the witchcraft in her. Yeah, I was known to be quite "churchy."

For someone like me, who barely takes such things seriously, I laughed out loud. I never believed she was a witch, especially with the scenes we used to see in Nollywood movies back then about children being witches. In case you're reading this and don’t know what such movies are about, let me explain:

  • A child gets possessed by the spirit of witchcraft when a mature witch, or even a teenage witch, transfers the spirit or initiates the child via food poisoning.

  • Whenever it's night, the child's spirit leaves their body and travels to the coven.

  • The child also behaves weirdly and abnormally especially with being stubborn.

So I don’t know which of these characteristics made my dad’s family conclude that Sophia was a witch.

“Please bring her to stay with us again,” was my suggestion to my dad because I wanted to examine, observe, and see if those things said about witches are true or just fallacies. Honestly, I wanted a situation where Sophia would come to stay with us, and I’d get to ask her questions about the other world. If possible, I’d even beg her to poison my food so I could see if I could be initiated to experience these things myself. You might say I’m exaggerating, but that’s just me. I really wanted to test all these supernatural claims to see if they were as people described because most of what people say are all lies....including this thing of bewitching🧐

Well, my dad didn’t agree because he was scared that Sophia might initiate my other siblings. Also, he deeply frowned at how jokingly I handled his request for me to cast out the witchcraft from Sophia’s body.

Sadly, I didn’t follow up on the issue to know how they eventually managed to cast out the witchcraft spirit from her. That’s why I called my dad before writing this, and hey, he didn’t say anything reasonable. He was just beating around the bush, and before I knew it, I burst into loud laughter.

When I was home earlier this year for our grandma’s burial, Sophia was around, and she’s now a big girl that it took me a while to recognize her.

The witchcraft thing was all a lie. Maybe she was just behaving very stubbornly, and they thought the best way to explain it was by labeling her a witch. Lol 😂. Also, this subject of bewitching is a big lie!

Tell me, do you believe in this witchcraft stuff?

It’s only in Nigeria that a growing child exhibiting normal traits of childishness is called a witch. I’m sure the girl has calmed down now and is not as stubborn. Na wa for my country 😂

The thing is funny asweeeaar 😅.
Thank God for eyes opening in this our era if not ehhh 😅.

Hmm this topic deep, i'll rather chose to believe than not to believe because this world is deep, though I haven't seen one before but for someone to think of it, there is a possibility.

Hahahah!😂
I get your point...where there's fakeness, there's realness
But how come it's just hear, hear and hear and we don't get to experience it raw to feel or believe it??

 yesterday

Lol. I don't think there's a Nigerian household that didn't accuse one person or the other of being a witch. But imagine you trying to use yourself as an experiment. So weird, this man.😂

Lol😅.
To be very honest, I really want to know if these things are real.
The way they made us believe things things is so funny.

Lol. You're welcome. Have a nice day.🌺

Hehe. 😂😂😂

When I was primary school, one of my cousins came to visit. She was very quiet and only spoke when spoken to. One night, my grandma suddenly screamed and said she had dreamt that my cousin was a witch. The next day, my cousin went back to her parents' place.
Crazy.😂

Hahahaha! 😂
The way they made us see these things eehh!
I'm very sure your grandma took her quiet life as she was always communicating with people in the other world😅

I once asked this question on my status. Do witches truly exist? And i got many responses, most of them were yes.😂

I believe they exist. And I'm not talking Nollywood stuff sha. But they exist.

This thing... Have you experienced it once or you believed through the stories you've heard?
Tell me, I want to hear😅.

In our part of the world when a child starts portraying a certain character they label that child to be possessed by God knows what. My niece right now is labeled to be possessed because the rate at which she makes my aunty shout is out of control😁😁😁

Hahahahah!
The quick labeling is funny asweeeaar 😂.
And they made us believe all these things when we were very young.
It's well.

Nigeria and superstitious beliefs 😂😂😂 chai

That's what completes us as Nigerians😂

Abi 😂😂😂

There have been many cases where kids that were so stubborn or tend to do things a bit differently (weirdly) from other kids are often called witches. Shocking thing is that it is always to the girls, boys are just labelled stubborn.

I can't say for sure because I haven't had any experience with them. I'd rather stay neutral.

It's so funny and strange that you wanted to confirm by using yourself as the experiment.

Shocking thing is that it is always to the girls, boys are just labelled stubborn.

You got me to make scan on the experiences and it's very true. Girls are always victim of this.

Thanks for reading boss

They always are.
You're welcome sir🤝
