Growth is a major characteristic of every living thing, be it plant or animal. Once growth ceases, death is closer than ever. Anyone that does not want to be overlooked or trampled upon in the society must endeavour to grow. Likewise, plant that doesn't want to be uprooted must also strive to grow. In fact, growth is an outcome of to learning, acquisition of skills, expansion of reasoning and widening of horizon. In human, growth could be evident in one's physical, financial or spiritual life. Every growth however springs from our mindset. No growth can occur when the mindset is negative and unresponsive.

Positive and receptive mindset embraces change and desires growth. A person with a positive mindset is always willing to learn, face and overcome challenges and accept criticisms to become a better person. The world is evolving and we can't blame a society that despises mediocrity. What would have happened if there are no people like Elon Musk who have made so much impact in the world today, Mark Zuckerberg, Charles Babbage, Chimamanda Adichie who have invested so much in themselves and have influenced the world positively. What should we say about Gabby who founded hive community which has been of great benefit to us all? Or Tom Watskin's impact in hive community. These are people that embraced learning, researches and discoveries to grow and now they are helping millions of people.

It should also be noted that complacency is an enemy of growth. Anyone that easily get satisfied with any situation that comes his/her way may not grow or may have limited growth. It is like an eagle in a cage. To grow, we must always aim higher and wishing to be better. Growth on the other hand is not limited to the four walls of classroom. In fact, while growing up, I learnt that a teacher can't teach the students everything (100%). There's always room for personal learning and self-development, in a class of 100, growth is only evident in the lives of few that take further steps to discover more on their own. Little wonder, there are graduates nowadays who can only be known with their certificates and nothing more. In fact, the education system is not even enough to rely on because people later discover that what are mostly needed in the labour market is not definition, memorization but usable skills such as: interpersonal skills, team work spirit, digital skills, marketing skills, project management skills and the likes.
The world is evolving and personal growth is paramount everywhere and anywhere in the world. It is not enough to have a degree certificate, I realized this at my first interview after my NYSC. Little wonder some companies emphasis their need for employable but not ordinary graduate. A friend of mine in the U.S contacted me to edit a manuscript for him for publication. Do you know that job is beyond taking a pen and shading but requires my knowledge and the ability to make use of different tools. I have seen the need for personal growth and I have been embracing it ever since. I never said it was late or thought I had passed the level to learn. Thanks goodness that I am not who I used to be. I am still learning and growing and I'm glad and amazed at my new self.
Thanks for reading.

What a wonderful post. You have done justice to the topic by explaining how growth comes from a positive mindset and continuous learning. Complacency truly limits our potential. What do you think is the most important skill to focus on for growth in today’s world?

That's a lovely question.
There are lots of skills and they are all lucrative but I will say digital skills, going by today's world. Let me know if there are better ones.@etukakpan01

Bringing back this sweet memories from secondary school. Most of us back then, were flogged before we could tag along with the Mr Niger D😅
