I still remember those huge queues to buy "one product per person" where buying sugar in the market was a fearful and then laughable experience, where the "bachaquero" handed you "that kilo of sugar" as if it were a drug, and if the police I saw you buying that way, they scared you. I also remember women fighting in queues for a position or because "they were hanging out." The mothers managed to make the cassava and the sardine have a different flavor because it was the food of almost every day with luck. I still remember that to give a cake, I queued for two hours to buy butter, a queue for one hour to buy wheat flour, the hen was the one with the golden eggs apparently because of the high cost of eggs, but in the end when the cake was done I felt so satisfied that the hours I spent queuing paid off. Then there was the problem of cash. Suddenly the food appeared little by little but very expensive, then the queues disappeared but the pockets did not give, and there is still that fight between salaries and high prices.
I remember a friend that I greatly admire, a hard-working, studious person, I really admire him a lot, one day he told me that he couldn't handle his situation anymore, that he couldn't bear to see his mother in need and the money he earned was not enough, that he had been offered to sell drugs and sometimes he saw it as an option, wow! I didn't expect those words from him! But I understood that the situation leads us to think of ways "to solve" even if they are not good... After a while he told me that he was out of the country, he currently lives in Chile and he is doing well thank God, he helps his mom and it's quiet there. I have another friend who, financially, his situation was not as critical as that of the other friend, but life and covid played a trick on him, he emigrated to Chile too, he earns what is necessary for him and helps his mother, but he does five months his mother died of covid, the heartbreaking of not being able to be with his mother at that time made me very sad, I spoke with the lady and she was happy to see her son well but sad to have him far away, after the death of his mother wow! He has had to fight with enthusiasm outside his country, he has never lost his good humor with his publications on the networks, but always among these there are publications that show that sadness is there.
Venezuela and its young people are good for the fight and we don't know how to give up, women, men, we all know that "the sheath is hard" but that there is nothing stronger than the love of a Venezuelan for his family and his country, he tells them a lawyer who sells sweets while going to court, a friend of professionals who have three jobs.
Sometimes it gives powerlessness not to achieve goals that at a certain age we should have achieved, but we have to keep fighting, to achieve our dreams you just need to have the conviction of being able to reach them. No one said it's easy, not easy at all, but the great things in life require a great degree of sacrifice and perseverance.
