KOBU: Creative Training journal in 21 days ✨

Hello peoples!

Last year around November or December I was downtown in a stationery store looking for post-it notes and checking on the new 2022 agendas, in the hope that I'd find a nice and cute astrological one, ideally very similar to that one that I saw 2 years before, if not the same... I found my post-it notes, no decent agenda, but serendipity!

Hidden in one of the shelves was this little journal, which wasn't just a simple blank journal but a "wreck this journal" type, an awesome 21 days long creativity stimulus and therapy, which is why I'd even say it's not only centered on creativity but more on the wellness part as it has a lot of cognitive-behavioural therapy styled exercises. A total unexpected finding, as soon as I started checking its pages and saw how nice these exercises were I decided to buy it , there were only two, a white one and this one in black.

My initial idea was to start it as soon as the new year got started, but I just wasn't ready lol; I had been going through some shit in the last three months of 2021 and couldn't have my mind focused on doing this and many things in general. So it was this April that I was finally able to getting it started, 21 non-stop daily exercises to boost creativity and know yourself a little better :)

At first I wasn't sure where to post the everyday exercises but since they all were so simple and quick, I was thinking a micro-blogging platform would be perfect for these; even though there are several I just thought of Twitter and Dbuzz for their shared structure and interface, and because I wanted it to be on the chain preferably it didn't take me too long to go with @Dbuzz💙. So I started posting them through there, determinated to be consistent and not skip a single day, but I was struggling a bit with the titles, I included the name of the book KOBU but I wasn't even sure why I was putting it, felt somehow wrong even though the word really got my attention, maybe because I wasn't fully aware of this word meaning and that made me uncomfortable.

According to the book itself and to Wiktionary, the word KOBU means inspiration in japanese (こぶ), and even some other things too; but the first definition was the one that the author of the book decided to go with, Tamara Villoslada, an Argentinian KRI (Kundalini Research Institute) certified kundalini yoga instructor and an illustrator artist too, and according to her:

"This booklet has 21 practices to connect with your inner and outer world through introspection, nature observation, creativity, drawing, writing, and yoga and meditation techniques."

She also states these exercises were designed to be performed during 21 consecutive days, but not necessarily. One of my favorite things from the book were her illustrations, and this is why I included them on each daily post I did.

As you see the book is in spanish, and this is why when I posted the exercises the text was mainly an english translation of the indications and the third picture I'd upload would be the exercise itself done. On Tamara's website you can even find some other creative trainings that are digital versions of this book that include live online drawing classes, yoga/meditation sessions and consultings. A really nice and creative way of providing value I think. The training even has an Instagram account too.

So here they are! All the 21 exercises + an extra one, because one day I wasn't able to do the respective exercise due to circumstances out of my control, lol, so you got 22! ✨

They say it takes 21 days to create a habit, but that is just a myth, no habit is formed in 21 days; but maybe this is why Tamara chose to create this #CreativeTraining to be for 21 days; even though it might not be like that, I think it's indeed a beautiful attempt to foster the habit of taking time in our daily life to not only just be with ourselves but to connect with the environment too, to be just one with everything somehow, as she explains in the book.

This #CreativeTraining was really and unexpectedly special, a lovely way to enjoy my own company, a journey of self-discovery and above all introspection, one of my favorite things to do. Thank you very much to all those who always pay attention and get every single little thing and detail, for all your support and for accompanying me be alone in this short trip.

Definitely gave me some new perspective on CBT. I used DBT for a good while when learning to retrain my brain and manage my thoughts more effectively. The techniques are great to fall back on when we feel our minds taking over. I found DBT to be more "spiritual" and less "psychology" and that resonated with me personally but I do feel like they have a lot of overlap and serve the same purpose. Anyways, as long as we get the message who cares how it got delivered. Much love lady.
