¿Quién soy? - Mi presentación en Hive / Who Am I? - My presentation in Hive

Nacido en el Estado Lara, en la región centro occidental, en la llamada “Capital Musical de Venezuela” o “Ciudad de Los Crepúsculos” como también se le conoce por sus bellos arreboles. Durante la década de los 50, tuve el placer de crecer allí durante los años de mi infancia, donde los valores de la patria chica, de respeto, de lealtad, de obediencia, de honradez, de moralidad, de amor por lo nuestro, se arraigaron en mí, apalancados por las enseñanzas de padres que con disciplina me enseñaron a andar por la senda del bien y el servicio.

Born in the State of Lara, in the central western region, in the so-called "Musical Capital of Venezuela" or "City of Twilight" as it is also known for its beautiful sunseets. During the decade of the 50s, I had the pleasure of growing up there during the years of my childhood, where the values of the "patria chica", of respect, loyalty, obedience, honesty, morality, love for what is ours, were rooted in me, leveraged by the teachings of parents who taught me with discipline to walk the path of good and service.

Recuerdo a mi padre decir: "Palabra de Hombre" para cerrar un negocio con un apretón de manos, igual solía decir que "si los hombres somos honestos, honrados, no serían necesarios los abogados". Hoy día, en el hermoso otoño de mi vida, he sido honrado por mis hijos y nietos al ver en ellos los valores enseñados por mis padres, que me brindaron sentido de pertenencia.

Como niño deseoso de servir, luego de quedar huérfano de padre a la edad de 11 años, solía pasar las mañanas en un taller automotriz asistiendo a los técnicos mecánicos que allí laboraban, buscándole y poniendo a su alcance las herramientas que necesitaban para efectuar sus tareas. A esta temprana edad comencé a aprender un oficio: reparación y mantenimiento de vehículos automotrices. Ello, sin darme cuenta y proponérmelo, sentó bases para trabajos futuros.

I remember my father saying: "Word of Man" to close a business deal with a handshake, he also used to say that "if we men are honest, righteuos, lawyers would not be necessary". Today, in the beautiful autumn of my life, I have been honored by my children and grandchildren to see in them the values taught by my parents, which gave me a sense of belonging.

As a child eager to serve, after being orphaned from my father side at the age of 11, I used to spend my mornings in an automotive shop assisting the mechanic technicians who worked there, looking for and providing them with the tools they needed to perform their tasks. At this early age I began to learn a skill: repair and maintenance of automotive vehicles. This, without realizing it and without intending to, laid the foundations for future jobs.

Dios Padre me brindo la bendición de estudiar en un liceo público de respeto y prestigio. Allí me forme como bachiller en ciencias, sumado a la vocación deportiva que desarrolle hacia el futbol, deporte que corre por mis venas, como la música de mi tierra, la gaita zuliana, el colorido que nos obsequia la flora y fauna, además de los diversos matices que engalanan nuestra vista en los atardeceres larenses.

En la vida existen situaciones que te motivan. Como liceísta le prometí a una profesora de inglés que luego de graduarme regresaría para dialogar con ella en ese idioma. Fue así como, al otorgárseme una beca para cursar estudios universitarios, decidí irme al Reino Unido, Inglaterra, tanto para cursar estudios de Ingeniería Electrónica, como también el aprender el idioma ingles y cumplir una de mis promesas.

Para un campesino de formación, vivir el final de su adolescencia y el inicio de su juventud en una tierra de idiosincrasia y cultura diferente fue un desafío en la década de los años 70. Por esos años Inglaterra era un país de menos prejuicios que Venezuela, adolescentes que salían de sus hogares por un fin de semana sin que sus padres aparentaran preocupación alguna de sus paraderos, que tipo de relaciones de parejas, de noviazgos llevaban, por lo que te encontrabas en la prensa, mientras procurabas familiarizarte con el idioma, noticias como “Madre lleva a su hija de 15 años al Dr. para que comience su prescripción médica de píldora anticonceptiva”.

God Father gave me the blessing of studying in a public high school of respect and prestige. There I graduated as a bachelor of science, added to the sporting vocation that I developed towards soccer, a sport that runs through my veins, like the music of my land, the gaita zuliana, the colorful flora and fauna, in addition to the various shades that adorn our view in the sunsets larenses.

In life there are situations that motivate you. As a high school student I promised an English teacher that after graduating I would return to talk to her in English. Thus, when I was awarded a scholarship for university studies, I decided to go to the United Kingdom, England, both to study Electronic Engineering, as well as to learn the English language and fulfill one of my promises.

For a person with a peasant farmer background, living the end of his adolescence and the beginning of his youth in a land with a different idiosyncrasy and culture, was a challenge in the 70s. In those years England was a country with less prejudices than Venezuela, teenagers who left their homes for a weekend without their parents seeming to care about their whereabouts, what kind of relationships they had, what kind of dating relationships they had too, so you would find in the press, while trying to familiarize yourself with the language, news like "Mother takes her 15 year old daughter to the doctor to start her prescription for the contraceptive pill".

Ello hizo que viviese muchos eventos en tiempos más cortos que lo que hubiese tomado vivirlos en mi patria. En todo caso, parafraseando al Apóstol Pablo, aplique su premisa de “Escudriñarlo todo y retened lo bueno”. En todo caso, el vivir en varias ciudades como Bournemouth, Colchester, Blackpool y finalmente Londres moldearon mi carácter para bien, alrededor de los principios forjados durante la niñez.

Luego de esa estadía de 7 años en Inglaterra, regrese a Venezuela con el título de Ingeniero en Electrónica y Acústica, además del título de esposo y de futuro padre en camino. A mis 26 años comenzaba mi etapa laboral para poder brindarle el sostén a las bendiciones que el matrimonio trajo consigo: mi esposa y mis 4 varones. Para el inicio y posteriores años de la década de los 80, trabaje en una empresa de extrusión de vasos plásticos desechables, de extrusión de envases de aluminio para refrescos y en una de laminación de aluminio. En estas pude palpar que la universidad de la industria y de la vida te enseña de manera diferente a la académica.

This meant that I experienced many events in a shorter time than it would have taken me to experience them in my homeland. In any case, paraphrasing the Apostle Paul, I applied his premise of "Search all things and hold fast that which is good". In any case, living in various cities such as Bournemouth, Colchester, Blackpool and finally London, molded my character for the better, around the principles forged during childhood.

After that 7-year stay in England, I returned to Venezuela with a degree in Electronics and Acoustics Engineering, as well as the title of husband and future father on the way. At the age of 26 I started my working stage to be able to support the blessings that marriage brought with it: my wife and my 4 boys. At the beginning and later years of the 80's, I worked in a company that extruded disposable plastic cups, extruded aluminum containers for soft drinks and in an aluminum milling company. In these I could feel that the university of industry and life teaches you in a different way than the academic one.

Allí no hay margen de error, o lo haces bien o pones en riesgo a personas y equipos, así que de manera impuesta aprendí que “La Experiencia es el peor de los profesores: te enseña la practica sin haberte enseñado la teoría”. Debo expresar que estos años me dieron una formación integral en la ingeniería, ya que, con otros ingenieros y personal técnico, me vi involucrado en mantenimientos de índole mecánico, hidráulico, neumático tanto como eléctrico y electrónico, puesta a punto y proyectos.

Al inicio de la década de los 90 fui contratado por General Motors Venezolana, por el Departamento de Calidad como Coordinador de ensamblaje de chasis. Acá es donde y cuando aquella experiencia de mis 11 años de edad y posterior adolescencia en un taller automotriz había “sentado bases para trabajos futuros”.

There is no margin for error, either you do it right or you put people and equipment at risk, so in an imposed way I learned that "Experience is the worst teacher: it teaches you the practice without having taught you the theory". I must say that these years gave me an integral formation in engineering, since, with other engineers and technical personnel, I was involved in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic maintenance, start up, tuning and projects.

At the beginning of the 90's I was hired by General Motors Venezolana, by the Quality Department as Chassis Assembly Coordinator. This is where and when that experience of my 11 years of age and later adolescence in an automotive workshop had "laid the foundations for future work".

Gracias a ello logre visitar plantas en Bogotá y Madeal, Colombia; Ramos Arizpe, Nuevo León, México; Mount Blank, Detroit, Michigan; Fort Wayne, Ohio en USA; Oshawa, Canada. De allí en adelante me he dedicado principalmente al ramo, bien en plantas, concesionarios, diagnósticos, reparaciones, repuestos, para finalmente al trabajar para una empresa de ensamblaje de vehículos Chery, China, visite sus instalaciones para ser entrenado en la década pasada.

Anteriormente había comenzado en Steemit, pero deje de escribir por mis ocupaciones laborales. Mi esposa @ladyfont me ha animado a retomar esto de nuevo y ahora en Hive, sirviendo el escribir para ocuparme y compartir mis conocimientos, vivencias y más, con toda la comunidad.

Thanks to this I was able to visit plants in Bogota and Madeal, Colombia; Ramos Arizpe, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; Mount Blank, Detroit, Michigan; Fort Wayne, Ohio in USA; Oshawa, Canada. From then on I have dedicated myself mainly to this industry, either in plants, dealers, diagnostics, repairs, spare parts, to finally working for a vehicle assembly company , Chery made, China, I visited their facilities to be trained in the last decade.

I had previously started in Steemit, but stopped writing due to my work commitments. My wife @ladyfont has encouraged me to take this up again and now in Hive, serving writing to occupy me and share my knowledge, experiences and more, with the whole community.
