[Esp-Eng] “Epifanía de Reyes/ Epiphany of Kings.” by. @Aleravago
Hello dear friends, there is a story known as a fable and for others it was simply a passage of scripture where the scribes of that time saw it as the arrival of the Magi, they were three wise men from the Middle East who appeared only once in history of the Nativity of Jesus, and were captured in the imaginary of Christianity.
Countless Christmas stories have been written where the Three Wise Men are mentioned, who, having as their guide a star, followed it to venerate the Child Jesus, in the sacred scriptures it does not describe them as kings or clarify how many they really are, only that they were wise men and scholars of the East. In the ancient courts of the East, of Persia and Babylon, the Astrologers fulfilled the functions of priestly advisers, over the years the Three Kings were interpreted as Magi.
The holy gospels are about a very bright Star that was the guide to these wise men who guided them from the East to place them in a humble place in Bethlehem where a Child was in the company of his Mother and Father, these magicians from the Far East gave their Most valuable presents to the son of the Creator Gold, Incense and Myrrh.
The Kings of the East long before arriving to meet the Child were received by King Herod, who heard what was rumored about the birth of a child and jealous asked the Magi that when they would locate him they will tell him where to go to worship him. Like them, a dream warned the Magi not to return to the palace and after fulfilling the purpose of visiting the newborn they returned to the East by other ways to avoid exposing the Child Jesus.
Some narratives describe the names of the Magi, also their lands and origins: Gaspar de la India Melchor de Persia and Baltazar de Arabia, as far as those present had a deep meaning, Myrrh referred to the son of God as human, EL Oro it represented the condition of the child as King of the Jews, and the incense as the divinity for being the son of God.
Many of the representations of Christmas are reduced to the story of the Nativity, making it seem to us that the Kings arrived in Bethlehem at Christmas but the traditional celebrations place them 12 days after Christmas. The celebration of the arrival of the Kings called Epiphany, Roman Catholics celebrate Epiphany on January 6, while in the Orthodox Christian Faith on January 19.
Epiphany by etymology, from the Greek meaning manifestation, is a religious event. For many cultures the Epiphanies correspond to revelations or apparitions where the prophets, witch doctors, shamans or oracles interpreted visions beyond this world.
