If I could travel through time, no lie, I’m heading straight to the past. Not to do anything dramatic like stopping a war or warning people about Nigeria’s economy—no. I am going back to correct one major thing that has been sitting in my chest for years, choosing the course I’m currently studying.

See don’t get me wrong, my course isn’t terrible at all, It is not like I hate it or anything, but sometimes I sit down and think, “Did I actually choose this, or did life just choose it for me?” Because if I’m being honest with myself, I feel like I should have taken a different path entirely, maybe science, maybe commercial, maybe something that would have pushed me into the tech space earlier, at least something that would align more with who I am becoming now.
If I had the chance, I would travel back to my secondary school days, the exact moment they asked us to pick our class, I would tap my younger self on the shoulder and say, “Baby girl, use your sense this time o.” because right now, I feel like I am playing catch up, I just started taking a Data Science course online and for the first time in a while, I feel alive academically, Like, “Ah, so this is what it feels like when a course actually calls your name!”
The way tech has been drawing me ehn, it’s almost spiritual, and the funny thing is that my current course still has one or two connections to tech, but it’s not giving what I want it to give, I want something more hands on, more digital, more futuristic… not all these long theory talks that feel like they were written during colonial times, Sometimes I just sit and imagine how far I would be if I had entered this tech lane earlier.
So yes, if I had the chance to jump back in time, I would fix that, not because I am ungrateful, but because deep down I know I’m meant for something different, I know I should have been on a path that feels more like me, and it is funny because back then, I didn’t even understand the weight of those decisions, they just told us, “Pick your class,” and all of us were picking like it was snacks, in my set there was no guidance from teachers or anything, no clear picture of the future it was just vibes and pressure.
And maybe if I had chosen differently, I would have entered a career that pays better, aligns better, and excites me more. Maybe I wouldn’t feel like I’m playing catch-up now. Maybe I would already be deep into the tech world instead of starting from scratch.
But the good thing is this: even though I can’t literally time travel, I can still redirect my present, i can still learn. I can still grow. I can still choose differently.
So yes seriously , if I could go back, I would, but since I cannot, now I am choosing to shape my future with the knowledge I have now, and honestly, that is not a bad place to start.

When you think about it carefully, you would realise the fault is not actually yours but the country you were born into. Seeing how difficult our country makes studying some courses to be, this has made lot of people to redirect to something simpler. Moreover, the specific course you studied might have lot of opportunities in it but such opportunities are not just available in your country.
I had a friend that studied cartoonist, he graduated and started feeling like he committed the worst crime in this world. He was into comics but in didn't really get far, when this friend of mine got the opportunity to travel to Germany, that was when he realised how profitable his course of study is.
There are some minor course in management that earn more than tech in some countries.

I like your zeal and drive. We can always learn to improve ourselves
Yes we learn everyday tho
I understand how painful it must be to be studying a course, and halfway through, you discover that it isn't the path for you. It also takes some courage to eventually decide to pursue your real interest, and I'm glad that you have done that.
I wish you the best as you continue to journey into this new path of tech you've chosen.✨️
