My Christmas Wishes

Merry Christmas everyone. The long awaited day is finally here, and I can't tell how happy I am to be among those celebrating.

Although a lot has changed, lately Christmas is no longer like it used to be, the way we celebrated it a few years ago is not what I am seeing around.

I know there is insecurity in the country but the quietness is bizarre. Two years back, when you stepped outside during the Christmas season, you would know that something is happening.

The road is usually busy, the market gets congested, and you see people moving their vehicles with goodies but seriously, when I stepped outside yesterday, I could count the vehicles on the road.

I was discussing it with a friend this morning and he said “people are tired and already giving up on a lot of things.” And seriously that's very obvious.

So many things are no longer taken seriously, people are no longer excited about life. It's as if at this point everyone is just living, pushing on the last strength they have.

But how did we get here? Is it because of the crisis, insecurity, corruption, disappointment and other negative occurrences?

Well, I can't tell, but I think things ought not to be so. Life is meant to be enjoyed and not endured. Situations and trials of life shouldn't take away our hope in life.

Therefore, one wish I have during this Christmas period is for things to get better all over the world. I wish that joy and the gusto that keeps people moving back then can be revived again.

I wish that peace, hope, progress, fulfilment and success would reach everyone and every nation.

Instead of just living, I wish purpose would find its place again in the lives of people and as they chase those purposes, they would be proud in the end that it was worth it.

Finally, I wish that everyone reading this finds whatever they are looking for in life. It may take a long time but let the labor you have been putting count and pay off in the end.
