It's undeniably true that the world we live in; at least from my part of the world, you need a skill. This skill could be needed to survive or to suffice for something. Skill in this sense refers to the services one delivers in exchange for monetary reward, or otherwise as the case or choice may be. Though monetary rewards are the main exchange, and that's a reason why skills are very needful.

Some skills are life impacting, not necessarily providing monetary reward. Skills such as time management, effective communication, teamwork, and the like. These might not bring money, but they might be just what we need to gain that money through our practical skills. I'm grateful to have been able to develop some of them, while I'm working on developing more. There are a lot of these to learn and acquire.
To practical skills, I was able to learn, and discover in the other case, two major skills for now. One is graphic design; which I've talked about several times on this blockchain. Chuckles. The other is writing, of course. How did I discover these skills or learn them? For graphic design, it was an interest privileged in a time of necessity that had me learn the skill. I had an interest in creative works, as even my course of study demanded creativity. I've come across graphic designs and the desire to be able to create such magic grew in me.
Sometime later, while in school, I came across a flyer that advertised digital skills for students. It was a strike period, and I knew this was just what I needed. Graphic design and video editing were listed, so I knew I had to hop in. It was free, though we paid for the certificates, if you know. But I tell you the worth was more than the certificate fee. That then started me on the journey of graphic design which has led me to work with several people and a few brands/organisations.

Some recent designs.
I knew the need to grow, so over time, I ran to YouTube for tutorials to stay abreast with the current demands of the industry. And to friends in the field as well. Learning this wasn't an easy journey. It took me nights staying awake, using night data to download tutorials as the network wasn't even really good in the location. I learnt and then I grew. And today, I can boldly say I have a skill which does me good, connecting me to certain people even.
Writing has been a skill I'll say was a part of me, waiting for a manifestation, and that happened some years back. I began writing articles and poems. The major spark was joining a writing contest. The works of other writers has helped me grow,, and I'm still growing. I discovered ideas and certain tools to use to improve my writing. Hive came through as a growth mechanism as well. While I was no longer giving much to writing, Hive gave me a reason to do so, and I've seen myself become more developed in this skill.
Skills tend to give a person a sense of fulfilment and responsibility. It does that for me. It also projects me in a way with value. What this means is that I'm able to solve a person's needs, giving them satisfaction and therefore making a mark to whatsoever they sought my service for. This makes me see my skills beyond a money-making venture. Well, I'll keep designing and writing. Why should I stop when I feel this good about them?

That's it.
The truth is that any of us can develop any skill if we are passionate and intentional about it, we don't have to be born with the gift.
Glad you took your time to learn both skill, it's such a wise decision
That's true bro. It takes determination and resilience.
