Believe It, Receive It, Live It - Happy Solstice

Yesterday, I celebrated Solstice with my daughters. I don't do Christmas, I'm not religious, either are my girls. But celebrations are important, especially ones that celebration nature and our connection to it. An opportunity to reflect and process, whatever experiences life has brought us, this past year. Process and let go, so that we can move forward. It is within the darkness, where we can connect with the most inner parts of ourselves. Where we can nurture ourselves.

The darkness, inviting us to embrace it, to step in to it, to explore it, so that we can let go of our fears and find comfort within. This place of healing, where we get to incubate our ideas and dreams. Here within the stillness of the Solstice, we re reminded to pause, to focus on ur visions, on the seeds that we need to so sown, so that those dreams can become a reality. A rebirth.

The Solstice is a wonderful time, to give name to our visions, to birth them so that we can release them into the world. So that they can grow with the returning light. Just as we can grow and once again, become more active in the Spring, with the return/rebirth of the sun. Our lives interconnected with the natural cycles in nature. These natural cycles are what I celebrate, the changing of the seasons, the cycle of the moon and the sun. Observing them, observing nature, so that I can receive her teachings.

Me and my girls usually get crafty on the Solstice, making bird feeders and suns. Taking the opportunity to give something back. But haven't gotten round to it just yet. A few days ago, I received a call from my sister to tell me that my mother is unwell. She is in hospital at the moment, awaiting the results from a biopsy, that was performed, so that we can understand what is making her sick. Then I can make decision about whether or not I need to return to Ireland.

But we still had a small celebration, in the sun together. We ate a lovely breakfast together and then exchanged some gifts. My middle daughter, made some vegan cookies and I went to an Ecstatic Dance event, that was very close to where I live. With everything I have been going through and with my back playing up, I knew I needed to find some release. Dance has always been my favourite form of release.

The event was being held by some friends of mine, there was a circle before hand, a celebration of the Solstice and the opportunity to connect with whatever it was that we wished to let go of. That has been holding us back, as well as whatever emotions we have been holding onto. Then we done some exercises, to help us sink into our bodies. So that we would be ready to dance with intention.

Alex the DJ, who held the space and provided the music, is wonderful at taking you on a journey. Of helping you connect with the parts of ourselves that need to be healed. It was a wonderful way for me to celebrate the Solstice. It was also where I got the title of this post, as one of the tracks that we danced to, contained the lyrics, " Believe it, receive it, live it", which is my new mantra. One I will be repeating every morning when awake and before I go to sleep.

Afterwards, I returned home and ate a beautiful dinner with my girls. I had already made vegan nutroast and my girls had roasted some potatoes whilst I was dancing. That just left the sprouts and the gravy, which I made. It did not take long. As I made them, I poured so much love and light into them. Then we sat down and ate our beautiful meal.

Happy Solstice everyone.
