When things are challenging and you see certain people stand by you, sharing in your pains, there's comfort, love, and a reason to keep going.
I believe in the saying that blood is thicker than water.
I come from a small family. Every new year, we gather to celebrate ourselves, our lives, and our achievements. We also reflect on our failures and remember those we have lost. This time is used to address family issues, seeking repentance and offering apologies—uniting in love once again, or even more.
Our bad character is also corrected here, especially when it comes to teenagers and young adults. It could be very embarrassing, but at some point, you realize that almost everyone has been discussed before, so there is no need to panic. This doesn't hurt; instead, it shows the concern and interest we have in each other.
This gathering has given me good memories I will never forget quickly. Then death, illnesses, and disasters have also given me bad memories I will never forget.
After all we've been through together, there's a strong connection that cannot be broken. I always feel the need to prioritize my family above all else because they are the ones I turn to when I'm in a bind as a young adult. For now, there's no one I love more than my family.
I believe blood is thicker than water because there are situations where friends will leave, neighbors despise you, but family will still stand by you. They don't have a choice; they can't throw you away because you are one of them.
There's a man I know who was a philanthropist but never helped his family.
He sponsored people's children in school, but his cousins were hawking fruits and frying yam. When he fell terribly ill, his wife left him, and all the people he helped could not help him. At some point, he couldn't take care of himself anymore, so he had to go back home, to his family.
It was difficult for his siblings to forgive him, but they had to. He is their flesh and blood, and they are his last hope. The family he ran from put heads together and gave him another life.
This was a lesson to most of us who see family as a burden. Family is supposed to serve as our backbone. Yes, we all have our lives and responsibilities, but there's a need to always support and show concern for each other.
If you take a closer look, you'll see that the essence of family lies in the unconditional love, support, and protection we provide for each other. But what happens when these crucial elements are missing? What are your thoughts on that?
So, while it's true that family connections are important, I believe that the depth of a relationship should not solely be based on blood ties. True family extends beyond genetics and can be found in close friends or individuals who support and care for us unconditionally.
Somehow this post has prompted me to reflect on the value of all meaningful relationships in my life. Because while family is crucial, I've come to realize that the support and love we receive from those who truly understand and uplift us can be just as vital. It's essential to cherish and nurture all relationships, whether they are with family members or chosen loved ones, as they all contribute to our well-being and happiness.
A good relationship with a friend can bring something to our lives that mere obligation cannot bring.

Family is so so so so underrated maybe because we have these people always hence making it look very common.
For me, call from family members is what I don't joke with because it's a big priority 💪
