I remember when I was an undergraduate, I had so many thoughts running through my mind, thoughts like "how will it be after school? Will you pursue the your career or go for a something else?" I had to ask myself this questions because in a country like mine, we have more graduates without a job, everyone is looking for who will employ them when there aren't even much innovation companies around.
I thought of all this and came to a conclusion that a degree is not enough to survive in a country like mine.
In a world where Academia has produced more graduates than the jobs created, you should know that a degree is not enough. I know you can tell where I'm heading to but don't stop here, there might just be something new you didn't know about.
Do you know that there are jobs everywhere but 75% of graduates lack the appropriate skills needed?
The only proof of worth is in their certificate. We spend hours solving for things that do not influence our real lives and overlook building character and skills.
The truth is, if you do what others are doing, you will also get what they are getting! I didn't say don't get a degree, I am only saying a degree is not enough! When you go to school compliment it with the necessary skills you need that relates to your course.Education makes you qualified for the job but skills make you efficient in the job. Don't just build your curriculum vitae, build skills!
Finally, I hope you know that in order to excel in today's economy, you have to search for innovative ways to solve problems.Design your own education.
