A Morning Delight: Discovering the Hidden Beauty of My Spider Plant!

in ThoughtfulDailyPost18 hours ago (edited)

One amazing thing I admire about my Papa is his passion for gardening. His love for planting and cultivating everything from flowers to trees is so heartwarming and motivating.

You can't step into his home, or even around it, without being greeted by vibrant flowers. Wherever he lives, he creates a beautiful floral haven, no matter how small the space.

In the absence of space, his creative and resourceful side take center stage. He will either upcycle plastic containers and tin cans or recycle poly bags to create a home for his flowers. Nothing goes to waste in dad's hands, a passionate minimalist at heart.

Watching all of these while growing up as a child sparked my love for gardening - planting flowers, growing crops and watching them grow.

Sometime last year, I visited a close family friend and saw this beautiful flower "**Chlorophytum comosum" - Spider or Ribbon Flower" still at the nursery stage. I requested for some which they gladly gave me.

Back home, I searched for a spot to plant them, but limited space made it a challenge. Then I recalled Dad's creative upcycling solution and that saved the day.

With plastic bottles and tin cans at my disposal, I created makeshift planters. I filled the bottles and can with soil, watered them, and let them sit overnight. The next morning, I added the flowers.
Just like caring for babies, I tenderly nurtured the plants, and watched them grow and flourish with each passing day until they blossomed into their current beauty.

As I stepped out onto my porch this morning, it was such a delight to see this beautiful white petaled flower sitting pretty and decorating my 'Spider Flower". I couldn't believe my eyes! The delicate, star-shaped bloom added a touch of elegance to the plant's lush green foliage.

It's hues, a combination of green and white reminded me of the Nigerian National flag, symbolizing hope and renewal. I had woken up at the wrong side of the bed but as I gazed at the flower, I felt my mood lift, and my connection to nature deepened.

The simple yet profound beauty of this tiny bloom sparked a sense of joy and motivation within me, and I knew that it was going to be a lovely day!

As I sat at my desk reflecting on how I tenderly nurtured the flower through it's blooming stage, I was reminded of how the power of care and attention can bring life and beauty to even the most fragile things. I'm indeed thankful to have inherited my Papa's green thumb.

And then, the elegant white bloom, with its ethereal beauty, served as a poignant reminder of nature's power to heal, uplift and inspire us. Even in the midst of a busy day, taking just a few moment to appreciate the beauty around us can make all the difference.

Just as it did It for me today, I hope it will do so for you tomorrow, if you'd only try it.

This is truly beautifully written. Most times we lack the patience to truly carter and nurture somethings, but when we do, we get to appreciate it.

Indeed you took after daddy's green thumb 👍

My dear, the hustle and bustle of life no easy o. We're always joggling from one activity to the other just to make ends meet that we forget to take a moment and appreciate nature.
